Just saying they’re focusing all their high draft picks on DL, OL, S. I have nothing against that since they are areas of great concern and we need it. But they should cast a broader net if things don’t go their way. I rather draft the #1 CB/LB/etc than the #5 DE or Dillard. Give me a star.

I am not too intrigued by some of the mid-late round prospects they’ve brought in either. Not a lot of upside. I know it’s due diligence and the draft is a crapshoot but most of the names don’t catch my attention.

Very happy we’ve met with Bobby Evans. Would be a great 3rd round OT to develop then play at LT next year once Williams is gone. Assuming we go DE and S in the first 2 rounds, which seems most likely at this point

So OT, CB, and Edge are top 3, I think most of us would have put that on short list of needs going into the off season.

I think sometimes fans get in the habit of trying to forecast what position in which round, I know I do.  Something like edge in the first, Safety in the second, OT and WR in the third.  

In reality you can't predict what other teams do, you have a list of needs and a list of possible players that fit your system that you expect to be available at certain points in the draft.

For example we have the most visits with OT.  I don't think that might mean that is our biggest need, but instead maybe a position we might think we might end up filling at very broad range of point in the draft.  Whereas edge we might feel fairly confident we can fill with one of the first 2 picks.

You have to be careful with trying to force positions with rounds, that is when you start reaching.  This is why you have to look at the draft as a whole and identify which positions are strong, and also the depth of those positions.  For example I think the top of the DE class is good, but I don't see the depth that say the DT class has.

I agree.  I was watching some tape on the later round DE’s and I have to say I’m not that impressed.  Miller is good and has nice bend but has injury issues with his hamstrings. But he is my top of the later guys.  Banogu has no bend whatsoever. Ximenes is just ok.  In fact after I watched these guys I went back and arched dome film on Marquis Haynes.  He’s much better IMO than any of the later round guys this year.  I actually have high hopes for him this year in our new defense.
