My Carolina mock draft

Recommended Posts

Things I have been told/reading in between the lines, here is what I have come up with my best GUESS

16:
Greg Little, T, OLE Miss or Andre Dillard, T, WASST
(Other options: Cody Ford, Brian Burns, Garret Bradbury, Clemson DT)
Make no mistake, if Andre Dillard is here, he will be the pick, it seems less and less likely that it will happen that way. Little has all the talent of a of a Laremy Tunsil, just truly needs to work on technique to be a high level starter on the left side. This draft has a clear emphasis on not letting an injury on the oline derail our season, and if a high level tackle is here (Dillard, Little, Ford), we will pursue them. (Obviously, I don't think Sweat will be here)

47:
Christian Miller, OLB, ALA
(Other options: Nasir Adderly, Darnell Savage, Bobby Evans, Zach Allen, Dalton Risner)
If we don't get o-line in the first, I would expect Bobby Evans here. Miller fits the mold we need off the edge, and has a very high ceiling for a pass rusher. I don't buy the noise of a QB here.

77:
Will Grier, QB, WV
(Other options: Tytus Howard, Deebo Samuel)
It's clear we want to upgrade the backup QB position and make him sort of an insurance policy for Cam Newton's shoulder. Tyree Jackson or Clayton Thorton make sense in later round if we don't get Grier here.

100:
Miles Sanders, RB, PENN
Versatile RB that fits in the sort of bigger receiving back we are looking for. }

115:
Phil Haynes, G, WF
Excellent run blocking guard that swallows defenders whole. Solidify the offensive line even more.

154:
Blace Brown, CB, TROY
Awesome zone corner that was slowed down due to injury, fits our scheme really well.

187:
CJ Conrad, TE, KEN
Have a need to fill at tight end with Olsen getting older, Conrad provides a developmental option who brings an edge in run blocking.

I completely hate this draft.. After the 1st pick i would turn off the TV throw up and go to depress mode.. Seriously i think this is the worst draft I've seen.. You could have literally not gotten 1 starter in this draft.. ugggggggggggggggghhh!!!!!!!

Is your source a scout from a rival in the division?? Seriously this would be their dream draft for us..

Granted, it's what I actually think will happen. I would be kind of shocked if we didn't go o-line in the first if Sweat is off the board.

Division rivals draft dream would be us trading up in the first and taking Grier with one of our remaining picks lol

This mock gives us potentially four starters.

Can't say I would be happy with this at all...You got a tackle that many are saying could fall to the second round in the first going to us. Taylor Rapp Mr. 4.7 40 a first round option as well for us? We finally get rid of Adams and you think replacing him with another anchor  as a option in the first round? Lonnie Johnson Jr...in the first? I don't know who this guy is. Bradberry went out the window when we signed the Broncos center.

I think I there is a “pass rush or bust” mentality that has pushed this place over the edge.  It’s a need yes but if you ignore everything else except for that things will get ugly quick.

I dont necessarily like this draft but I see 3-4 starters.  I can be happy with it eventually.

-I'd be kind of surprised if Tunsil got to our pick in the 2nd. Could he fall out of the 1st? Sure, but he is still a potential anchor at left tackle.

-Taylor Rapp's 40 doesn't matter, and he is one of the most instinctive safeties in the draft in the mold of Harrison Smith

-Lonnie Johnson Jr is a solid 1st round grade CB, very lengthy, can play zone, and be our best press corner.

-Bradbury can absolutely play guard

That would be a terrible draft period. If that was our first rd pick, that would put an end to Hurney being money on those picks. No way their would be four starters out of that draft. You usually have some good insider info but this year it's like Sanjay hacked your account.

Dillard/Little would be our starting LT
Miller would start at edge
Brown would compete for the outside corner spot
Haynes could start at guard if we don't end up getting another tackle/kick Moton inside

Interesting mock. So a lot of mocks have Little dropping to the early second. Why are you high on him especially over Ford. In your scenario would Jonah be gone?

Also why Ford over Burns?

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
