Broncos CB Chris Harris Has Requested Trade or New Contract

If I'm reading his contract correctly he is very tradable for the broncos with less than a million in cap hit. The problem really is what is the value of a 28 year old cb at $8M for one year?

If someone sees him as a pro bowler for the next 3 years and he agrees to a new deal, maybe a 4th?

He certainly fits a need. We are gonna be in nickel just as much as we are in 3-4 and 4-3 base defense and slot cornerback is a bigger hole for us than free safety. It would def allow us to focus strictly on d-line and o-line rounds 1 thru 3 with a safety tossed in somewhere.

He is great, both on the outside and in the nickel...  but two problems:

1) he excels in press/man primarily, not saying he isn't great in zone...  but, we have been a primarily zone defense.

2) he wants more money and that's why he wants a trade.

Would I be excited if we swung a deal?  Absolutely.  But it isn't happening.

I think if you bring a guy like him in, I'd like to think you start playing more man-to-man, but who knows.  It sure does get tiring seeing our dumba$$ DBs getting lost and leaving guys wide open because they're covering the wrong zone instead of having simple coverage assignments.

    • HOLY HELL.  THIS SANTA CLARA / KENTUCKY ENDING.
    • The sad and infuriating part is we have the most recognizable and one of the richest ex-athletes who does absolutely nothing to help with funding or influencing recruits.  Until he steps up, this school will never be really good at basketball or football again.  I said it 6 years ago when Hubert was the next in line.  Back the fuging Brinks truck up to Spokane Washington and force Mark Few to tell his wife they are moving across the country.
    • The problem UNC basketball has is that the next coach would be selected with heavy input by Roy Williams again, which is what led to Hubert being hired in the first place. Bleh
