I like this pick because it convinces me now that the Panthers are going full-blown 3-4.

It also changes my mind completely on the Burns pick.  I didn't like it at all if we were just gonna "sprinkle in" some 3-4 and maintain the Base 4-3.

But picking Burns *and* Miller?  AND signing Irvin as a free agent?  Yep, along with sliding Mario out a little farther and taking his hand off the ground, we'll have 4 very good OLB to play outside (I'm assuming Luke and Shaq will be our starters inside, with Jermaine Carter, Andre Smith, and Jared Norris for depth) in the 3-4 set.

Still unsure, outside of KK Short, who we have on the roster that can play a competent 3-4 DE.  Kyle Love?  Who else?  I'm assuming Poe is the obvious 0-Tech with Butler behind him.  If not Butler, who?  Will we use one of the remaining picks to draft a 0-Tech?

I keep referring to what Rivera said about being a Hybrid defense.  Get players that can play either position DE or OLB without rotating players.  Miller fits that mold.

Offenses will now have to prepare for a 3-4 and 4-3.

Those of you that continue to say we are switching to 3-4 aren't listening.  It will be both.

Corey Miller calls it the “Case for Christian.” The former NFL linebacker took to Twitter on Thursday, producing a roughly two-minute video explaining why he thinks his son, Christian Miller, is “the best outside linebacker in this year’s draft.”

“Six-four, 250, can run, has a 4.6 40-time, 38-and-a-half vert, 10-foot broad,” he said, rattling off Christian’s measurables. “But the brother can straight get after the quarterback, and this is a passing league now in the National Football League. They throw the ball all around.

“He can rush the quarterback, but he is the most complete linebacker. He can set the edge. He can play the run. He can play off the ball 3-4, 4-3 Sam linebacker. He can do all of that, and he can put his hand in the dirt and be a defensive end in nickel and in sub packages. There’s no more complete linebacker in this draft. This is why I think any team that passes on him, they’re making a huge mistake.”
