Love the pick ...his talent wasn't why he  wasn't a higher pick...his troubles were ...if he has put them behind him we will have a really good RB for a while ...worth the gamble

Then his  stats don't match the talent.  About 800 yards--under 6 a carry--of course, it depends on the job they give you--(short yardage vs. a draw play on 3rd and 22).

And (obviously) we did not use CJ Anderson much when we had him.  It really comes down to coaching and the discipline it takes to use all of your tools with the long run in mind.

Marty said in the presser, "We were surprised to see him still there."  That is a BS lie.   Nobody in his right mind would have expected Jordan Scarlett to be gone by round 5.  Marty must take us for fools.  It was a stupid pick--forget about what the player brings---if you can get a guy in the seventh, don't take him in the fifth.  Does the phrase, "dime a dozen" mean anything to Hurney?  That is what Scarlett is.

Hope he proves me wrong.  If this is true, he could be a Stewart, CJ type of back--which won't matter if you keep CMC on the field 97% of the time.  However, if you take away the pass-catching option, he will find the sledding rougher in the pros.

Marty (aside from this crap) had a good draft.

Yeah I think it’s complete BS that Marty was supprised he was still there. It’s just a Marty man crush.

I do hope the kid balls out.  He is growing on me.

HFS, Omenihu was available when we took this guy? Omenihu screams 3-4 DE and was stellar at the Senior Bowl and had amazing combine numbers for a 6’5” 280 pound guy. I was driving home from a vacation with the family so I only got highlights and never reviewed all the picks.

I don’t like this pick at all anymore. We could have gotten him later but Omenihu would be amazing for us at 3-4DE.

I wanted all defense after our 2nd round pick. All defense cause lord knows how bad they were, we need it. I think with Burns, they feel they already have enough on the roster

I'm so interested on how the Panthers set up their board. I was surprised we took Scarlett this high especially when we don't value the RB position that much.

I really do feel like Marty truly drafts for need more than BPA. It seems like he targets certain players at certain positions in each round.

I could be wrong because a ton of teams passed on guys like Omenihu but it just seems odd and would love to see our board one day.

So I’m not sure if this has been posted yet.  I wasn’t a big fan of this pick.  But I do trust Brett’s opinion.  Let’s hope he balls out.  I posted a stat earlier how he is the best is college in YAC in the 4th quarter.  I could get on board with that.  If you watch Scarlett carry the ball he probably doesn’t fumble much.  He carries it like Tiki barber used to. High and tight.  Good for ball security in the 4th qtr.

jim nagy is former scout, near the end he said:" Scarlett was one of his favorite player/picks in the entire draft". He was an NFL RB no matter what the numbers say and was the best RB pass protector in the draft.

He fluffed me up on him.

so, you would say jim nagy is a fluffer?

Yeah I heard that interview.  I sure hope he is right.  It’s seems scouts are really high on him or pretty low.

I really want to get back to some smash mouth 4 minute clock killing in the 4th quarter.  Hope he is the guy.

I heard him being interviewed today on WFNZ.  Dude sounded stoned as hell. I can’t complain.  I have been in the camp of loosening the nuse a little bit on the kids of kids we draft.  I want to win.

Scarlett looks good. Search for his YT videos post suspension. Seems to have wisened up a ton and looks like a decent kid. Doesn’t seem like a bad dude and appears to have learned from previous mistakes.  Could turn out really nice behind CMC. Like his talent a lot.
