The similarities are kind of odd to our 2015 run

-Questions about our GM going into his second year

-Our solid CB #24 going into a contract year
-A new tackle with a lot of upside is drafted and has a chance to start
-Drafted a RB in the 5th round
-We traded up into the 2nd to get a key offensive piece
-We are without our big leading receiver the year prior (Benjamin tore his ACL/Funchess is a Colt)

-Coming off a disappointing losing season

I know they are all just kind of coincidences, but the parallels are funny. Is this roster better than the one that went to the SB?

Also the media wasn't expecting anything from us that entire pre season.

I think the most telling sign will be if our Oline stays healthy. Because the last time the Oline stayed healthy was 2015.

  • 2015 : O-Line stays healthy, we go to the Super Bowl
  • 2016 : Oher goes down to concussion problems, then is off the team. Ryan Kalil injury.
  • 2017 : Ryan Kalil injury.
  • 2018 : Daryll Williams injured twice.
  • 2019 : ??

R Kalil was replaced. WR is better. Defense is worse.

The most important piece is Cam. 2015 was his best year. Not because of stats, but because he played smart. He didn’t look to run. He took what defenses gave him. He had no choice but to read the field instead of starring down targets and forcing it because we didn’t have playmakers. When KB was here, that’s all he did. Hell, when any threat is on the field that’s all he does. Cam is best utilized when he has freedom. He and the team need to learn from that.

Cam can come back physically but mentally he has to return to 2015 mindset. The kind of mindset Brady has had year after year and the coaches need to let it happen. The defense has got to get pressure and keep him on the field.

With that, anything is possible.

What I find really encouraging though, is if he can regain his physical ability, he would exceed the standard he set in '15 because of how much he's grown as a passer since then.  He showed last year how accurate he could be and had set career highs for completion percentage (I believe he bested his previous by like 6 points without looking) until his shoulder fell off.  With that improvement, imagine what he could do with this receiving corps and the ability to throw the ball 50+ yards.

Also got to throw this out there...  this is by far the best offensive line Cam has ever had.

If he can return to full strength, the sky is the limit.

Thats what I’m saying... I just hope his shoulder returns back to form. I get tired of the generalized statements acting like he’s never progressed as a passer. Cause it’s horse poo. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he got better at the short/timing routes once we got Norv in instead of Shula. I know people were killing Norv for calling the short game passes but obviously he was calling that kind of game cause of cam’s arm strength limitations. You mix in some air Coryell deep passes to back teams away from McCaffrey and the short passing game and we will be damn hard to stop on offense
