Players didn't exactly like him and apparently this was going on before his mom died. What we've seen from him the last couple years was what people close to him had been seeing for a while.

I think Gettleman did DeAngelo wrong, from the time he lost his mom until his contract wasn't renewed. Up until then, DeAngelo had been nothing but an exemplary Panther, team player and a helluva running back. He was active in the community and he spearheaded the efforts that brought the entire NFL into taking part in Breast Cancer Awareness month. 

After his mom passed away, DeAngelo got hurt pretty bad by something that happened from team management, we don't know exactly what happened, but something did and DWill became pretty salty. And then he was let go at the end of the season while he, and a lot of observers, felt there was a lot of tread left on his tires (something born out when he went to Pittsburgh). And around here, the Huddle as a group just savaged the guy, pretty unjustly.

I personally hope Hurney reaches out to him like he did the Steve Smith and brings him back into the family. DeAngelo was a good player and a good guy who deserved a lot better than he got.

Still like d will, felt management did a poor job handling the passing of his mom, can be argued the same for kb also, dg burned some significant bridges on his way in and out, not solely blaming him but we did a piss poor job for some former all time panthers and greats

mike tomlin told him to be at 220 or less before he reported to his first steelers' camp.
