Steve Beurlein blasts Luck for retiring

Steve Beuerlein  is making this comment based on what Steve Beuerlein would do

a lot of people seem to get angry when a person does or says something with consideration to self and family and no outside influence

The "I wouldn't do it this way so you shouldn't either"  attitude is ridiculous

I get that the NFL is competitive and I understand that there is a great deal of work - teamwork - that goes into building things.

But, life has a lot of moving parts. Adjustments must always be made. Teams make adjustments by (gasp!) cutting pieces that they don't think will help them. The horror.

Andrew Luck made an adjustment to his life that he felt was in his best interest.

Why are NFL teams permitted to act in their own interest but a player is not afforded the same?

Ridiculous.

Players are under ZERO obligation to play this game.

This business will chew you up and spit you out. Luck knew this

Lot's of people upset with Gottlieb.  But again, he is criticizing Luck's toughness.  The Colt fans are upset by the timing.

Because they would have felt better with him standing on the sidelines. Because he seems a long way from ready to play in a game. What’s the difference in Gottlieb and you. You are questioning his character AND toughness.

When was the proper time? In March when he thought he would be better and was trying to play. When was that perfect moment?

And Thank you for posting that. I seriously can’t. The fact that you did it says a lot. Props.

Politics is more calming?

The tone seen in politics over the years has spilled into pretty much everything else on social media, especially sports related discussions. It's why you have ignoramuses ranting and raving about Colin Kaepernick kneeling and blasting Luck as a selfish quitter because he is a human being. Meanwhile in the midst of this circus surrounding Andrew Luck, there are still fans here who can't wait to run our own QB out of town despite the fact he has been and is still willing to put his body on the line for this team. There are too many shitty and unappreciative people out there.

Fans got a right to be upset, even angry at how it was done. Dude was a great talent though. Booing him I think was distasteful imo.

But Luck has every right to walk away if he isn’t happy with his job. God knows the Colts would kick him to the curb (and most teams would for that matter) if sticking with him caused them the same amount of pain. Loyalty to NFL teams is a tricky subject, since it seems TO BE A ONE WAY ROAD.

I wish him the best.

You missed the point. You don't retire 2 weeks before the season starts. That's not fair to an organization that invested a ton of money in you and a fan base counting on you. There's a right and a wrong way to do things. I don't think anyone is mad at him for taking care of himself. The timing is what makes it so bad.

They want to.make excuses for him.

took a few tries!  you should see other espn pundits attack him.

Anyway, not to pick a specific time but let's say in March he announced his body just could not take it and his mind wasn't in the game anymore.  Not a single colts fan nor NFL fan would have the right to criticize the decision whatsoever.  Good on him.  The guy is head over heels for his fiance btw and that relationship is a huge factor.

But that is exactly my point.  The criticism he is taking is for the timing, not the decision itself or his right to make such a decision.

I'm happy Luck is deciding to what is best for him. That is a daily ritual everyone should do.

He shouldn't have left the Colts in a lurch. He could have walked away much earlier than this.

It’s like you’re being purposefully ignorant when multiple posters have told you straight from Andrew Luck’s mouth that he was waiting to see if his leg would get better. It didn’t. So he retired. This isn’t hard to understand.
