How The Panthers Got Their Name

I had no idea lol!! Read this

CAROLINA PANTHERS

Panthers team president Mark Richardson, the son of team owner Jerry Richardson, chose the Panthers nickname because "it's a name our family thought signifies what we thought a team should be—powerful, sleek and strong." Richardson also chose the 1995 expansion team’s color scheme of black, blue, and silver, a choice that initially came under scrutiny from NFL Properties representatives. According to one newspaper report, the concern was raised at the 1993 NFL meetings that a team nicknamed the Panthers that featured black in its color scheme would appeal to street gangs and reflect poorly on the league.

This is false.

The true story comes from the Panther of Independence Blvd.  Prior to the hot tub stores and car dealers, the road was once a mighty corridor, spanning from Uptown to Myrtle Beach with pink and turquoise poo everywhere.  A local magistrate, Otto Hubberson, had a barber he went to on Independence.  I was there where a secret lair of witches, warlocks, and ghouls hid about the Charlotte suburbs.  This secret underground cult of independence had their hideout about a 1/2 mile past Ovens Auditorium.  It was here where a young Richardson once found himself after ice skating at Eastland and watching Big Trouble in Little China at the theaters one fateful night.  He decided to get his hair cut, and the day just brought a certain allure to the beyond.  He made some lines in the snow, knocked out the barber, snuck to the back, and found the witches lair! It was here where they granted him three truths.  One being the Panthers, one being that the BBQ at Hornets games was secretly awesome, and that a hidden treasure laid in the depths of the University Area man made lake that would take the top city officials down!
