What's up with all these hating on Cam threads?

The dude played better than the QB opposite of him against a team that was just in the Super Bowl, in his first game back from surgery, and was a missed tackle or missed field goal away from none of these threads existing. Dude threw for 65% accuracy, which does not calculate tips or drops, and he moved the chains on multiple occasions. I am not some staunch defender of Cam either, he deserves criticism when he messed up, and he had a couple of moments in this game, but to claim he is done or he sucks is such a brash overreaction. This whole narrative that he can't throw a deep ball, when his arm was clearly just fine is annoying, we did not dial up deep balls because the last thing we want is for Cam to get buried on a seven step drop against one of the best defensive lines in football. We went toe to toe with a top 3 team in the NFL, and clearly showed we are ready for anyone, you guys need to step away from the message board and take a xanax or something, and make sure not to come in here after Thursday nights game glowing Cam up if you made one of these stupid 'doom and gloom' Cam threads.

I don’t get it either, yeah he made some mistakes and missed some throws but there overreactions are asinine. It’s like mfs never played a competitive game, like throwing deep is the only way to beat a team, we had a game plan and it worked for most part except execution. We lost to a good team, the sky is falling crowd is annoying, I’m sure if cam had a game like dalton and we still lose these mfs would find something else to bitch about

"At some point something had to happen," he said of the game. "That was kind of the mindset. I feel like I was gonna do everything in my power to kind of get it going. It felt really bad at times, but it ended up opening up. We had to keep staying course, keep fighting."

His resolve is what stuck with teammates afterward. It endears him to them. As does his confidence.

"He carries himself with a chip on his shoulder, not to the point of being arrogant or cocky, but it's a good thing because that's why he was able to do what he did today," said right guard J.R. Sweezy. "He's going to continue to grow and get better and he's going to be a top quarterback in this league in no time."

Rookie Kyler Murray

Seque to the Panthers in the 4th quarter, Who had this type of grit on our team? I can only name CMC.

Cam had that horrible INT. That's it. There's plenty of blame to go around but Cam doesn't deserve all the blame people put on him.

Look I put my own money on the game and lost, and still that’s how I expected Cam to play after missing 9 months of real football.  Close loss or close win that’s how I expected it to be.

Because your smart

"the sky is falling crowd is annoying"

Exactly.   Makes me wonder why Tepper does not'  hire the geniuses on the board to run the team (sarcasm)

It’s normal for the qb to get a lot of the blame after a loss and Cam definitely deserves his share. But why aren’t people blasting Turner for his idiotic play calling or Olsen for his half ass attempt to catch a pass . Plenty of blame to go around for another one score loss in the Rivera era

lol his shoulder was being held together by paperclips and bubblegum last year and he still wanted to play but he somehow lacks grit

You can't win with these people.  Their mental image of Cam Newton is his post-game attire.  Just like they thought we should walk all over the Rams because their head coach is a millennial snowflake who needs a safe space and our coach is a military background toughguy who played for the 85 Bears.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
