If Rivera had knowledge that cam has a lisfranc injury (which he has to cuz he's the coach) and let him play anyways,  it's just another reason to fire him.

Of course they knew.   Most of us knew after preseason when he was pulled.   Just like he played half a year with a bad shoulder instead of surgery.   This team is terrible with managing injuries.

any midfoot injury is a lisfranc until proven otherwise

weirdest thing is that xrays can be negative initiatlly, then positive a weak later

Yep. I had one in the army that I thought was a sprain & it wasn't caught til I was still having problems a month later & they decided to do another x-ray.

Text from Person's Athletic article (linked above)

Multiple sources confirmed Newton is dealing with a Lisfranc injury, in which the ligaments of the mid-foot rupture, causing instability with the joints. Some Lisfranc injuries involve trauma to the small bones in the foot, although the Panthers’ initial wording that Newton had sustained a mid-foot sprain would suggest his is ligament-related.

Depending on the severity, some athletes require season-ending surgery to repair Lisfranc, which was the case with former Panthers center Ryan Kalil in 2012.

And though Rivera would not answer a question about possible surgery for Newton, sources said that is not the plan at this time.

Sports medicine experts suggest a recovery period of four to eight weeks for athletes taking a non-surgical approach to a Lisfranc, depending on the severity.

Its sounding more and more like hes going to be out through the bye week.

If Kyle Allen goes 4-0 before the bye i dont even care if cams 100 percent.  You have to go with momentum and the hot hand and not fug the teams mojo and chemistry up.

I think we can handle Tampa in London but the Texans and Jaguars arent pushovers in the slightest.

And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
    • Aho and Jarvis just gripping it too tight right now. Relax, play their 200 ft game and the shots will start to find the net. Freddie has been excellent and welcome back Mista Svechnikov. Burns.....well, thank goodness for Slavin.
    • Supposedly he plans on staying in college for all 4 years.
