Newton may be dealing with a lisfranc injury

Mr. Scot

I remember in preseason there was concern it was a Lisfranc injury, but it was never confirmed, and by extension, it was insinuated the injury was less than that.

Who knows at this point, but I do think having Cam return after the bye is realistic and at this point, probably the best for all involved.

How quick people forget that Cam looked really good in this offense last year, too, before his injury.

We have 3 manageable games (@Texans, Jaguars, @Bucs (London)) before the bye.

If we can get to 3-3 at the bye and get a fully healthy Cam back, we will be set up to at least compete down the stretch.

Hopefully Kyle Allen continues to play well... I'm going to leave it at that for now

If Rivera had knowledge that cam has a lisfranc injury (which he has to cuz he's the coach) and let him play anyways,  it's just another reason to fire him.

The team doctors are who made the decision to let Cam play. I know it makes for good talk radio, but Rivera wouldn't override a doctor's decision if they felt it was serious.

Team doctors don't have the power to bench anybody. All they can do is advise the coach. It's still the coach's decision. You just generally don't expect the coach to go against the doctors.

Corey Miller (Christian Miller's father) former player

Just said he's reached out to his guys about that injury.  Just said if the ligament isnt off, it wont require surgery and is a month(s) to heal.  And said if its off, it will require surgery and will be season injury

FWIW this is the same injury that ended Santonio Holmes career

    • Doubling tripling and quadrupling down on this subject in defense of the pick is reminiscent of a certain mindset that has overtaken the political world. This conversation will become less contentious and dragged out to the point of becoming a dead beaten horse if rational minds can simply agree that we made a mistake missed on a potential franchise center and we will learn from it. All this coping is unnecessary.
    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle. Also, “flashed his talent” isn’t 9 carries for 22 yards. His one reception for 18 yards isn’t a flash with 11 other touches for 27 yards. He hasn’t proven anything. We have no idea if he’ll contribute in 2026.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
