Coach of the year so far.

No it’s not a clickbait title.  

I just want to give props to Perry Fewell.  What a damn good job he has done. With  primarily the same players from last year, the secondary has been great.   Yes the front 7 is better but you could also say the front 7 is better because of all the coverage sacks so far.  

Our secondary is balling right now.  And that’s an unusual sight here recently. 

Amazing what can happen when the owner puts pressure on a coach to get rid of his friends and hires competent position coaches.  

 

Chase Blackburn gets honorable mention for the award as well.

He seems to be just as valuable as the FA (McCoy, Irvin, Paradis, etc) pickups. I know Jalen Ramsay HATES him, mainly cause he is a hard-ass and focuses on details. Terrible combo for these new-era players, but he sure is an improvement over the guy that replaced the fired DB coach.

Tre Boston has been awesome and no on is talking about him. 

 

And when you actually have a real DB coach and not Richard Rodgers from last year, you have a secondary that can ball out.

Yep, upgrading at FS, secondary coach, and pass rush has made a world of difference.  Cockrell bouncing back string from that injury is a big boost as well. He's a very solid vet CB.

Tre is playing well,  better than I thought he would. I was hoping for "good enough", but here's been a solid pick up so far.

They tried to pick on cockrell today and he made them pay. He was awesome at nickel last week and didn't midsa best on the outside today. Love it!

When Ron is callin the defense bc his ass is in the hot seat, this is the kind of defense you get. How soon will he give it back to Wash?
