First Game Back in a Couple Years

First game in BOA since 2017. Taking the wife and one of her employees who has a developmentally disabled son and loves football. Not sure how well he'll handle the sensory overload or being somewhat restricted in a seat for 3+ hours, but we'll soon find out.

Anyway, since it's the Hall of Honor game, I thought I'd pull out my old #48 Stephen Davis jersey (opted for that over the #57 Lamar Lathon jersey) and listen to how many people don't have any idea who he was. Think the wife is following suit and will pull out her old Jake jersey.

Ahh Steven Davis. I'll never forget that magical 1999 year he had of almost 1500 yards and 17 TD's back in the old NFC west. If I recall that year correctly the Panthers finished the season with an astonishing record of .500 - good times.

Davis was a Redskin in 1999 and the Skins were never in the NFC West.

He joined Carolina in 2003 and had over 1400 yds and 8 TDs in his first season when the Panthers went to the Super Bowl.

He was? Oh well. My memory hasn't been kind to me lately. Good eye.

Oh, I thought he was saying when he got those stats while we were still in the NFC West. Didn't really know Davis's numbers prior to joining us, so I assumed they were right around that, with how well he performed for us.

Betcha a bunch of these kids didn't know which division we were initially in prior to the realignment in 2002.

Lamar is my favorite Panther pass rusher.

He would just kill QBs.

When he broke Michael Irving's collar bone in the 96 playoff game I almost jumped onthe field. He used to come talk to us before games.

13.5 sacks as a ROLB in a 4-3 defense in 1996.

Had a “deep” conversation with a ‘Skins fan before the ‘03 season on how pissed he was that his team traded Davis... don’t remember seeing for any game that season at teh Varsity Club, the bar where I watched all but 2 of the games that year....

saw. Opening day, Jakes intro, at home working on my old  Chevy S10 and missed the 1st TBay game because I was rewiring my brothers kitchen, game was supposed to be on locals but wasn’t.... funny, the details 1 can remember.....

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
