I think we have both Kyle, and Grier for 3 more years. If Cam is healthy, I don't see either one of them getting a second contract from us. I would hope both would want to spread their wings and leave the nest.

That all hinges on Cam getting back to, and staying, healthy for at least the next 3-4 years. By then, we will have to find another backup. But that is small price to pay for a healthy Cam.

The perfect scenario, we pull a NE and flip both players for picks, I’d be ecstatic if we got a 2nd out of either and a 3rd for the other like NE did with Jimmy G and Brissett

Love that he is playing solid and he has potential. The last two wins have been CMC and the defense making stops to win. I mean they only allowed 10 points to the Texans at Houston. CMC had a crazy game last week yet we had to have our defense stop their final drive to win. I’m sure part of it is Norv and Ron keeping him on a short leash. How many Saints fans are wanting Teddy to stay as the starter when Brees gets healthy because they are winning with him and the team is playing better?

Depending on how well Kyle plays until Cam comes back. No telling what we may be able to get for him. A legitimate starting QB is not cheap.

The win in Houston was a direct result of KA's play on the final drive.  IN Jacksonville we left 14 points on the field, not getting those points had nothing to do with Kyle's play.  You can say CMC did all the work, but without Kyle Allen we would have lost that game.

True the only thing is there are less qb needy teams than normal, but I’m sure we can find someone to bite

He also had 3 TOs in the Houston game. His stats at home against the Jags 17/30 for 181 yards and a TD. I will say it was great he had no TOs against that Jaguar defensive line (he did fumble).  Best case scenario is he plays great and Cam plays great and we can trade one for draft capital. Outside of the Cardinals game I haven’t seen much that screams franchise QB.

If he truly is a capable starter why would be trade him with our current QB about to be in a contract year?

A lot of reasons, if he’s just a capable starter than you trade him while he’s hot, we already have an investment in Grier even if cam struggles or gets hurt.

Of course that’s a different conversation if the staff believes his ceiling is higher than just a capable starter.

Cam’s contract year effects nothing, we still have a backup plan in Grier if for any reason there’s a contract extension issue

Man, unpopular opinion but you really have to consider shopping the kid in the off-season. His stock is as high as it will ever be.

Given the respective retention costs might we be better off shopping Cam?

I see people CONSTANTLY harping on the price vs. production for Slye & Gano....

....are true fans willing to apply the same paradigm to Kyle & Cam?

Might we better off to secure a trove of assets for Cam and place them around both Luke & Kyle who both seem to be supreme game managers on both sides of the ball?

What say ye?!?

As a true fan, and don't take this the wrong way...but, you are a goob. What say ye?

Let's trade our future HOF QB, and go with a game manager. One that seems to be regressing?

Kyle has been very solid in getting us wins but this is definitely an example of where passer rating doesn’t tell the whole story...

Yep.  Kyle’s been very good for us.  But passer rating sucks, the only game he meaningfully contributed to the win, rather than just not losing the game for us, was Arizona.

Fella, "game managers" dominate this league (a fact clearly lost on you).

"Game manager" = Super Bowl winning QB's = Brady, Wilson, Flacco, Manning (2), Foles, Dilfer, Plunkett, Theismann, Warner, Starr, Griese, Johnson, Rypien, Montana....

....not a single Superman® QB in the lot.

Yeah, sign me up for a top-notch game manager.

PS....your "regressing" assertion = #FakeNews

Not one thing you wrote is true. Tell ya what there, forget I ever said anything. I obviously made a mistake. Sorry, it won't happen again

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
