It might be tempting to kick them while they're down sitting at 1-4, but the truth is they swept us last year. Need to notch a W against them. If Ron can't beat Dan Quinn in 2 tries this year, someone needs to just take his keys away.

I’m all but certain Quinn is done after this year.

The choke poo gets old but man it would suck to have all three divisional rivals win a super bowl while Panthers existed and still be empty handed.

Hopefully we experience the Falcons taking that role.

Gregg Easterbrook of Tuesday morning Quarterback has pointed out that from the point where New England’s comeback began in the 3rd quarter, if the Falcons had done nothing but run the ball up the middle for no gain on every single play, Brady & Co. would have run out of time before completing the comeback.

Instead frantically throwing the ball against all known wisdom about protecting a big lead late in the game gave us the epic collapse.

What a bunch of maroons.

I'm pro-Rivera, but this is true.  If not for a dropped TD by Julio in 2017, we would be 0-6 against them since 2015.  And they were the only team to beat us in the regular season in 2015.

I think Quinn has been overrated, especially as a defensive guy, but he has had Rivera's number.  Head-to-head Rivera is 2-6 against him.  No excuses this year

Every time people bring up this coach is better than that coach because he beat them head to head I always love to bring up the fact that Rivera is 2-0 against Bill "Greatest Coach in the History of the NFL" Belicheat.

Head to head sounds good and all, but even I'm not stupid enough to claim Rivera > Belicheat.

yeah we have lost more than we won, but from a body of work Rivera > Quinn and its not close.

Never been the same ever since.

They also lost their offensive coordinator who currently has the 49'ers undefeated. that probably has more to do with that issue. Luckily for the Panthers Norv Turner Believe it or not is the best OC we have had to date, and its not close.  and Rivera has more to do with the Defenses success than anyone, long proven record of getting defense turned around and built into powerhouses.

No doubt losing Shanahan (the main cog in that run) was a huge hit, but you don't just historically choke like that and be the same (regardless of whether he stayed or not). Hell, just losing a superbowl is depressing enough for the players, but to lose in that fashion? Yeah, that will haunt them till they die. It will be hard for that franchise to recover their image. I don't think they ever will, they will be forever known for that choke lol

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
