10+ NFL teams really interested in seeing if Cam Newton goes up for trade

Just throwing this out there for fodder, but Cam's cap number next year...the last year of his deal is $21 million and the team is projected to have $46 million based on players under contract (36 without Cam).  That would give this team about $67 million under the cap to start the offseason.  Think of the players we could sign and re-sign!  All this is totally hypothetical of course.

Oh my goodness there is a reality check coming to a decent sized portion of this fanbase if they think QBs like Baker would be "tossed out the window" for a 30+ year old, health-questionable Cam presumably seeking a big deal.

Its the Browns...you really don't think they'd do something like that?

Why, because he's had 3 bad games in a row, despite a pretty stellar rookie season off a team that just went 0-16?  What should we say about Cam's 6 bad games in a row, then?

Yes, 3 bad games in a row when no reports /questions about your health disrupting your playing ability is a telling sign you’re trash lol. Your commitment to being intellectually dishonest in efforts to trash #1 is mind blowing

Mayfield has always sucked. Also your "franchise qb" team list was garbage. Assuming Cam is healthy, there will be a giant market for him if we are dumb enough to trade him.

This was discussed intensively in other threads, but fans are making a naive assumption that Kyle Allen will play for $500,000 under an ERFA tender.

He won't;  his agent will demand they restructure his contract or he will hold out.  You're either going to be paying Cam 20 million or Kyle Allen 20 million.

For those who think an ERFA has no leverage, one only has to look at Alejandro Villanueva, who held out and got a massive deal from the Steelers (a franchise who loves to play hardball).

Steelers left tackle Alejandro Villanueva held off on signing his $615,000 exclusive rights free agent tender in 2017 because he wanted a contract that better represented his role on the team.

Of course Allen will get a new deal if he's the starter next year, but if you think his market is $20 million, you are smoking something.  You can't equate a former first round QB deal in his prime to a undrafted QB no matter how good he does.  Only if Allen delivers this team a Super Bowl could he even dream of getting that kind of money.

Dak Prescott is going to command 35 million.  20 million is nothing for qbs now, you have to adjust.

35-40 million for top end quartbacks

28-31 million for Kirk Cousin type quarterbacks

20 million will be the absolute low end for anyone who is a borderline starter

Kyle Allen will ask for a lot of money if we trade Cam Newton and has all the leverage

Owweeeee, Cam with Zeke and Amari behind that Dallas line?
