tough questions: are our wide receivers mediocre?

That last paragraph describes Samuel more so D.J. Moore imo.

I said that was what I saw on him last year.

With Moore, this year I've seen him make a few plays, but it feels like he disappears a lot.

I'll grant that some of it may be that's so much of our offense goes through McCaffrey.

With CMC being the center of the offense, you would think that it would help Moore and Samuel.

You'd think.

The other big thing I remember about Moore from last year was the season long debate over whether we made the right choice picking him over Calvin Ridley.

This year so far, looks like he's got four more receptions and about fifty or so more yards than Ridley, but Ridley has four touchdowns and Moore only has one.

Still plenty of time left in the season, though.

Here's the thing that struck me the most today.

I've been saying before that I didn't think our OL was as good as we made it out to be because we were connecting on so many quick passes.

The 49ers showed today that if you could cover our receivers for just a few seconds, somebody could get past our blockers.

Honestly that concerns me more than the receivers themselves do.

I don't think I can make a definitive assessment into the receivers until Cam comes back and we see how they operate with Cam. I know we had an eight game sample last year, but I feel we need more games to fully tell. As of now, they aren't performing and I wonder how much of that has to do with coaching and scheme, and how much of that is ability.

Until then, the offense runs through CMC and rightfully so.

not sure why this is a tough question. we had a bottom ten WR corps heading into the season.  would jarius wright be a 3rd receiver on many other teams? i mean, cmon. how homer do you have to be?

moore has potential to be a low end 1 and samuel could be an ok 2. don't foresee them becoming a top tier duo like what we see in our division with evans/godwin or julio/ridley.

anyway with wright's injury and hogan's injury we get to see.... brandon zylstra? sweet!

The offense ran through McCaffrey pretty much all last season.
