I am Not impressed with this new WR coach.

A coach can only do so much. This is what you get when you bring in project WRs every year. Same goes for most of our team on the offensive side. Why people think that these guys could produce when not even a Vet like Newton couldn't get production out of them is beyond me. DJ is about the only guy I see panning out.

yeah, gonna have to go with the fact kyle allen hasn't been able to hit them consistently when they're wide open. samuel and moore have both improved leaps and bounds and have been largely held back by allen's inaccurate throws and inability to progress through his reads.

trust me when i say if samuel or moore got traded to any other team, they'd have 1000 yard seasons easy.

Moore is on pace to easily do that here though.

Samuels wasn’t a pure WR in college.  We are basically thinking he will be something he never has been in reality IMO.   Looks more of the mold of a Tavon Austin or Percy Harvin at this level.

You’re right about Samuel: he’s much more of a Swiss Army knife type player. And Moore, he’s come a long way with his route running. But he still does most of his damage on short routes with RAC. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Again, you’d like to see these guys with a 100% healthy Newton. I think you’d see Samuel doing a lot more of what Ginn did in 2015, with less drops. Whether or not that will happen again is very much in question.

Also, Chris Hogan was supposed to factor into a good bit of the offense. He still might, if he comes back healthy. I’m not talking about an every down player, but 10 or 15 snaps, here or there. He has the ability to separate, and can do some good things over the middle.

I can agree we need guys to step up and they have underperformed at times. But not even Ridley would look as good as he did if his QB was giving the ball to the other team at such a high rate.

I cannot buy into using Moore and Samuel primarily as scapegoats after how sloppy we looked overall at home. It wasn't just them by a longshot.

moore and samuel have 0 ball skills.  moore doesn't even look like he's trying half the time.  moore has no idea how to adjust his routes situationally.  maybe its coaching, maybe its a natural feel for the game.   year 2 and i know its early but they look like a #2 and a #3 at best.  i'd more believe they're a #3 and a #4.    we really need a gm and some scouts that can spot talent.   i'm 100% with snake that this is what happens when you take projects at wr every year and try and plug them in the starting lineup.

Kyle Allen's year of bottom 10 QB performances have obviously been discussed at length as has his atrocious offensive line. Let's take a look at some stats for another underwhelming offensive group, our WR Corps.

Football Outsiders

Note: Moore and Samuel rankings are in the "Minimum of 44 passes" category, while Wright is in the "7 to 43 passes" category.

  • DJ Moore

Defense-Adjusted Yards Above Replacement(DYAR) Rank: 39th out of 66.

Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average(DVOA) Rank: 50th out of 66.

TD's: 52nd out of 66.

Catch Rate: 23rd out of 66.

  • Curtis Samuel

Defense-Adjusted Yards Above Replacement(DYAR) Rank: 63rd out of 66.

Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average(DVOA) Rank: 63rd out of 66.

TD's: 18th out of 66.

Catch Rate: 60th out of 66.

  • Jarius Wright

Defense-Adjusted Yards Above Replacement(DYAR) Rank: 86th out of 92.

Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average(DVOA) Rank: 73rd out of 92.

TD's:  50th out of 92. (This is a 42 man tie for zero, FWIW)

Catch Rate: 70th out of 92.

NFL Next Gen Stats

Note: These rankings also include TE's.

  • DJ Moore

Average Separation Rank: 93rd

Yards After Catch Per Reception Rank: 68th

Yards After Catch Above Expectation Rank: 52nd

  • Curtis Samuel

Average Separation Rank: 93rd

Yards After Catch Per Reception Rank: 115th

Yards After Catch Above Expectation Rank: 103rd

  • Jarius Wright

Average Separation Rank: 27th

Yards After Catch Per Reception Rank: 79th

Yards After Catch Above Expectation Rank: 118th

The separation part i cant disagree with as its hard to see without all 22 however i havnt seen them drop many catchable passes( in fact i have been impressed with their hands, both making circus catches in coverage) and they dont get deep ball chances because of Allens limp arm (this effects their yards and possibly separation due to the defense knowing they arent going to run a deep route).

Weren't we all patting ourselves on the back about how good our offense looked after the Arizona game?

Were Moore and Samuel the worst WR's in the league when the QB was actually going through his progressions and not just closing his eyes and throwing the ball directly to a defensive lineman?

But Moore has multiple 100 yard games and is moving the chains and on pace for 1200 yds and Samuel takes the top off Defenses but cant get an accurate pass to save his life.

You mean against a trash defense alresdy without their top CB Peterson

This is the NFL.  You cant choose to play the 5 worst teams in the NFL every week

Its like a NC State fan trying to tell everyone after getting killed the last 3 weeks.

Weren't we all patting ourselves on the back a few weeks back vs western Carolina.

Were ____ and _____ the worst in the ACC then?
