Moore vs Ridley the age old debate.

After they drubbed us last week I saw many fans saying we clearly made a mistake picking Moore before Ridley. At the time It seemed like a reasonable assessment. Not knowing much about Moore before the draft I to was in the Ridley camp. He was a bigger name and put up superior (speed) combine numbers.

After listening for weeks leading up to the draft to the talking heads,I came away with the impression Moore was the superior route runner and a yac beast. Year one Ridley made it a easy 1-0 his favor and I thought To myself I knew it, the Panthers found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again.. I mean only we could have our choice out of any wr in the draft and come away with second best.

This year I believe it looks closer than one might think. Ridley hasn't slowed down his production but moore is picking his game up. He looks stronger period at the point of attack and after the catch. Ridley is still give him a crack and he's gone fast. Moore didn't have a bad 40 time but, him getting caught from behind is starting to vex me a bit.

I do believe Moore makes more happen with less, but does Moore benefit from wr 1 targets or does having Matt Ryan and Julio Benefit Ridley by drawing the lesser of 2 defenders and single coverage more often?

What say you...

They were the top 2 on my board when we picked that year because we desperately needed wr. I thought Ridley was actually more polished and a better route runner in college. Mostly because hes 2 years older , came from a big school and had more production

DJ just  has more upside imo... has that it factor. Yards after catch beast like u said. Everytime he touches the ball he can break it for a big play. Hes aggressive... not afraid of contact , and he proved yesterday that hes a tough kid. Was definitely banged up but he battled through it and had himself a day.

Both are great receivers but I think we made the right pick... I wouldn't trade dj for Ridley

I look at it how Juju had his breakout year with AB still on the Steelers. If you have talent and don't draw coverage like a WR1 you're gonna flourish especially in a pass heavy system. DJ will be our WR1...people want results now but not everyone is a Julio coming out of college. Heck even Julio had Roddy White to draw coverage his first few years.

Moore hasn't had as nearly as good of a situation as Ridley. At this point, most of his games have been with backup-level QBs, and yet he still produces and his YAC---a difference maker for WRs---is top notch. Come on, man. I'm happy with Moore. I seriously doubt that Ridley could do the things that Moore has done in this offense. He and Michael Gallup benefit GREATLY from having legitimate WR1s on the other side.

Our team prefers to run the ball when we get into the redzone. Story of the Carolina Panthers. It's why Steve Smith's TD numbers never looked great.

That may be true but it doesnt make 10 TDs for another player less impressive.  Just pointing out why it's a close comparison even if Moore has a few more yards

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
