Hypothetical: What will it take to get Rivera fired BEFORE the end of the season?

If he didn't get fired after letting the 2 and whatever Redskins come into BOA and give every RB a career fantasy day, then he won't be fired during the season.  Even if he knocked up Tepper's daughter, blocked the Tepper punt on the Panthers social media, and brought the ghost of Mike Shula back, Rivera is safe until Black Monday.

Buckle up and enjoy the free fall that is the Panthers 2nd half season tradition.

Let's just hope we get a good draft slot and have a competent new GM and HC that can knock this next draft out of the park.

why should he get a pass out of this mess?

and really, only the worst organizations fire coaches mid season and while we do suck as much as this thread, i hope we dont become the Browns, Buccs, Raiders, Redskins and other organizations who's owners are like 5 year old ADD kids hopped up on sugar juice with no patience ready to hit the reset button every time the video game doesnt go their way because its the easy thing to do while most of this board be like this dude

There is really no reason to fire him at the moment. We don't have someone in the wings that is going to be a viable option for interim to permanent head coach. We don't have any playoff spot to fight for. Just let him lose out and improve our draft position. He's building an even greater case for his dismissal with each game.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
