Yea . . . wrong.  Many teams have an assistant GM.  Giants, Steelers, Ravens were the first three I checked and all have one.  I'm sure there are teams that operate without one, but this is just wrong.

Wasn't Marty originally more of a contract guy? Maybe he assumes that role and the new VP is in charge of evaluating personnel.

It's not a terrible idea. The search for a assistant can start right now and honestly if a GM becomes available we can can hurney.

The VP of Football Operations comes from the Patriots (perhaps Nick Caserio)

The Assistant GM comes from the Steelers (a guy like Brandon Hunt, maybe)

That's a reeeeeeal intriguing setup.

If I'm understanding Voth, that VP being viewed as a COO means that guy is gonna be in charge.
