I'm furious at Tepper for humiliating Rivera and his family by firing him mid-season

LOTS of people have "deserved better" over the years of the Rivera Disaster but they haven't gotten it.

Ron can spend the holidays counting his very-much unearned big paycheck.

He will be paid the rest of his contract. Players get cut all the time during the season, and I rarely see any complaints about that. I appreciate Ron's efforts here, but it was time to send a message to the fan base.

Except in rare cases where there has been ill-will established between the owner and the coach, I imagine that this is how it usually goes down.

The polite offer by the owner to finish out the season.

The polite decline by the former employee of the offer.

And they both move on.

I liked Rivera overall, but I don't think this is humiliating.  He'll land on his feet and if anything this squelches any speculation he wouldn't be available for all the teams that will likely be after his services, either as DC or HC.

I seriously believe they probably had a good long talk and I'm sure Rivera walked away happy and understanding. For how good of a person Rivera is, I don't think Tepper has that cold of a heart.

If Tepper told him he was going to move on after the season, Ron may have elected to step down now and give some guys on his staff a chance to audition for future gigs.  Also gives Ron some time to reflect and collect his thoughts b4 the 2020 season.

Its probably more likely than your “threw him out with the trash take.”
