How Attractive is this Carolina Panthers Job?

This has to be one of the most attractive head coaching positions in the league, not factoring in nostalgic reasons with classic teams.

First Tepper, as has been mentioned, is the richest owner in the league dedicated to winning. He's not the type of billionaire that just wants to sit comfy and cash in on PSLs. Tepper is a guy who thinks ahead of the curve and will spare no expense to make the franchise a success. How could you not love that as a coach?

Then you have the region, which as everyone here knows is a top location in the country for people relocating to due to cheaper cost of living, weather and general awesomeness of this state.

From a team perspective, Carolina has tools that many teams looking for a new head coach do not have. Playmakers on defense and arguably the best RB in the league. Generally when a team has a head coaching vacancy the roster is a complete dumpster fire. This is not that roster.

Pretty damn attractive.

Yall gotta remember there are only 32 NFL teams. Every single one of these HC jobs is attractive.

Plus the Panthers have an organization with a forward thinking owner not some jackass like Daniel Snyder or overbearing lunatic like Jerry Jones.

Charlotte is a great place to live.

Despite the Huddle permanently in defcon one this team has a lot of young talent and all of our future picks.

We have a franchise QB AND the ability to move on from him at no cost if need be.

Really it doesn't get much better than that.

It is onenof the better gigs availible. The inly thing i dodnt lukenis that coaches have to be afraid that our owner will fire them mid season like he did to rivera. That puts us in a category with the browns and oakland imo... but other than that, probably the best job availible.

You guys are underestimating expectations.  There will be big expectations for the new coach to turn this thing around and quick.  That's a tough job with a HUGE question mark at QB.  Our best shot at a decent coach is getting one of the top QBs in the draft.  No Coach is going to want to gamble on Cam his first year.

Speaking of Atlanta...

Michael Lombardi is speculating that the Falcons will go after Greg Roman as their next head coach.

(I know some folks are going to absolutely love hearing that)

What is Greg Roman going to do with a immobile pocket passer?

Re: the bolded part, I am glad, because that's what we all want.

Re: the next QB, the coach is going to be hired long before the draft, so he will be able to consult with the GM in making that decision

Who's our quarterback next year?

There's also a belief that Atlanta might go after a young quarterback to be Matt Ryan's successor.

They are married to Matt Ryan's contract for the next 2-3 years at the minimum. I would think investing a first round pick in a QB would be rather unwise unless the plan is to move him in a trade.

    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
