Let Cam play the contract out and then proceed wisely from there. If he is back to health, a new contract can be negotiated along the way. If not, then Cam can either move on or retire as needed and we all feel like we gave it our best shot.

Only way Cam agrees to that contract is if doctor gives terrible news... we’d be forced to pay it anyway.

Well, he is already under contract for next season at what is a remarkably reasonable price if he is capable of playing. If he makes it through the season and can continue playing, then a contract can be negotiated after that. There has been no indication, to my knowledge, that he wants to be somewhere else.

This is false, Cam has no leverage at all in the situation.  The only thing Cam can do to control his own destiny is retire.  If Cam sits out he will still be under contract the following year, he has to play at least 6 games to acrue 1 season under contract. Only power players have sitting out is that the team needs them to play. When Tepper announced that the team is in rebuild mode, Cam lost tgat leverage.  The Panthers will have no pressure to bring him back.  The team has all the leverage, and whether or not Cam plays here next year will be up to them.

Also, as panther fans it makes all the sense in the world to let him play his contract out next season so everyone can see if he can come back healthy.  Franchise QBs are so hard to find and we know we have one in Cam.  I also feel if the team gets some kind of stupid Herschel Walker type deal for Cam, they have to take it.

I don't get why people are so enamored with the idea of burning it all down and rebuilding. Cam may be done...but I'd rather watch him go out and see what he has left for a year than start playing the lottery with draft picks that don't usually pan out.

I know we'll be there eventually, but there's a much better chance that Cam still has a few years left than there is the chance of us hitting jackpot in the draft.

My feelings haven't changed. If Cam is willing to play next year on his current contract, you absolutely bring him back. 21 million is worth it to find out if can return to early 2018 form.

If he's not willing to play on the current contract, the situation gets far more complicated.

People are not opposed to one year deals.... freaking Igo has said he is likely gone... what else do you want? Everyone with any substance has said it! He is not playing for 1 year with his injury problems. These talk show hosts in their moms basement don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.

What else do I want? I want to see Cam play another year before we dive into the land of the unknown QB situation for the next decade.

As far as I know, Cam hasn't said that he wants to stay here since he shut it down week 2.

Cam pretty much hasn't commented on football in a bit, unless I've just missed it somewhere.  I find that very strange.

    • I get what you are saying. I'm just saying we made it to the win, we should have a bit of class and not dogpile on the QB because his stat line wasn't great. His stat lines weren't great for almost his entire pro career, but this time, we got a win. Give him a breather.  The team cleared the bar. In the end, that's all that matters. Do it enough times and well, good things happen.  We've shat the bed enough times with good-ish QB play. It's not like we've been regularly to the playoffs even with our best performing QBs over the years. Heck, Matt Stafford was a helluva QB in Detroit for a long time with nothing to show for it. Steve Bartowski was a great QB back in the day, but in 20 years of watching I saw one playoff game for the Falcons. Heck, even Dan Marino spent most of his illustrious career on a lousy Dolphins team.  And yet, Tampa's first Superbowl ring was with the esteemed Trent Dilfer at the helm. Sometimes it goes like that.
    • I don't care what they tell me. Its what they actually do that matters. Coaches and GM's say crap all the time to keep fan interest. They are always trying to sell you something.
    • But you have to separate the 2 things in order to move forward.  Its okay to enjoy winning and its also okay to be critical of what is happening.  Coaches do it why cant we?   Also they have to be thinking next off season, next year all in real time.  They are applying what is working, where help is needed and how to get better and make plans for that.   I am weirdly confident that Dan and Dave are seeing what we are seeing and will adjust.   The wildcard however are the teppers
