The Panthers currently have the 11th pick in the draft.  We are currently 5-9 and have an estimated Strength of Schedule (SOS) of .547, only 2 teams higher (Bengals and Falcons).  This matters because the first tie-breaker for draft position is SOS, with lower SOS getting better draft position. 

There are currently 5 other teams at 5-9, and one team  at 4-9-1. The Panthers could possibly move in front of these teams if they win and we lose.  The following are the games that matter for draft position.

Games that directly influence our draft position:

Raiders @ Chargers: A Chargers win would give them 6 wins on the year directly improving the Panthers draft position.

Steelers @ Jets: A Jets win would give them 6 wins on the year directly improving the Panthers draft position.

Jaguars @ Falcons: A Jaguars win would give them 6 wins on the year directly improving the Panthers draft position.  If the Falcons lose, they remain at 5 wins, but behind the Panthers in draft position given they have a better SOS. This win would slightly hurt our SOS as we have played the Falcons twice and the Jaguars only once. 

Cardinals @ Seahawks: A Cardinals win would move their record to 5-9-1 giving them a half game lead on the Panthers and directly improving the Panthers draft position. Because we played both teams, either team winning will have a null effect on our SOS. 

Lions @ Broncos: A Broncos win would give them 6 wins on the year directly improving the Panthers draft position. However, if the Lions were to lose 2 in a row, we could possibly move in front of them in week 17, as their record would be 5-10-1 giving us a half game lead. 

Games that have a small influence on our draft position: 

Saints @ Titans: A Saints loss favorably lowers our SOS more than a Titans loss. This also keeps the game against the Saints competitive in week 17. 

Texans @ Buccaneers: A Buccaneers loss favorably lowers our SOS more than a Texans loss.

Giants @ Redskins: A Redskins loss favorably lowers our SOS.

Packers @ Vikings: A Packers loss favorably lowers our SOS.

Ravens @ Browns: A Browns win moves them to 7 wins, just in case we accidently win one of our remaining games. 

Games that have no direct impact on our draft position: 

Rams @ 49ers: Because we played both teams, either team winning will have a null effect on our SOS. 

Chiefs @ Bears

Cowboys @ Eagles

Bengals @ Dolphins

Bills @ Patriots

The Panther currently have the 11th pick in the draft. Given the Panthers lose, the Panthers could move as high as 6th in the draft this weekend given the perfect scenario where the Broncos, Chargers, Jets, Jaguars, and Cardinals all win.  If the Panthers win, they could move as low as 15th in the draft.

Lions @ Broncos: Broncos are favored by 7!

Raiders @ Chargers: Chargers are favored by 6.5!!

Steelers @ Jets: Steelers are favored by 3. 

Jaguars @ Falcons: Falcons are favored by 7.

Cardinals @ Seahawks: Seahawks are favored by 10. 

 

FYI, Panthers @ Colts: Colts are favored by 7.

      fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally

      5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
