That pretty much negates every candidate but McCarthy.

Not jumping for joy over him either. Jim Harbaugh would get a rise out of me before McCarthy, & he's not in the running.

Basically, at least one foot will be on the ground regardless.

Yeah only a month ago. Doesn’t change anything that was said when they’re desperate now. Kubiak was brought in as an offensive consultant. You can downplay that all you want. But Kubiak is a big deal. Great offensive mind.

The Kubiak question is a very valid one.

We might be able to pry Kubiak away as OC if Tepper writes a big enough check.

There's nothing the Vikings could do to stop it, short of elevating Kubiak to head coach (something he has no interest in due to reported health issues).

Make him assistant coach/head offensive coordinator, and offer the highest salary for any coordinator in the NFL.  It's all pocket change to Big Tep.

If you don't want Stefanski to be our next head coach, you haven't read enough about him.

He's the smartest coordinator in the entire NFL, and also commands the respect of his players and everyone around him.

The Vikings ownership is so terrified of losing him, they are considering firing Mike Zimmer (who is an excellent coach in his own right), to elevate Kevin.  How often has that ever happened in the NFL?

Even if you read any Vikings forum, they're scared of losing the guy and want to replace Zimmer with him.

Stefanski can be the next Sean McVay, and responsible for making Kirk Cousins look like an elite QB.

My favorite candidate over Bienemy

Stfanski or Bien for me. Risky but they’re hungry and have new ideas. Learning curve would be bigger. Would take longer to get going I’d think.

McCarthy and McDaniels would be comfort zone type coaches. Not so much a learning curve or new ideas. I hate staying in a comfort zone just for the sake of it. I have a feeling it will be one of these two. More experience may mean a better staff.

Rhule and Fewell I haven’t given much thought to. I can’t imagine hiring one of these over the above 4.

Do you consider McCarthy “proven?”

Yeah, but I still don't want him.

He's like Bernie Sanders: I don't trust that his 20th century playbook is really the answer for 21st century problems.

I suspect that greater offensive minds are passing McCarthy by in today's modern NFL.

"New" can be another way of saying "less experienced".

I'm not a huge proponent of McCarthy and McDaniels, but it's fair to say they have proven track records. Not so sure you can say that about any of the other candidates.

True, it does probably mean less experience. But I'm tired of going with coaches who have loads of experience. Most don't seem to be open to new ways of doing things. That's a human thing too, but the ones who can and are willing to adapt are typically the most successful - in football and life. If we want someone to be heavy into analytics, then IMO that points to a newer coach with less experience.

I'm open to being proved wrong on McD and McC. Maybe either/both is a bad choice, and I'm not considering enough negative evidence about them. I know McD's time with Denver was a train wreck. That's fair, but it was also a long time ago. People learn/change. The secondary reasons for opposing him seem to center around a hatred of all things Patriots and/or imagined/presupposed bad personal traits like arrogance or a propensity to cheat. That doesn't deter me automatically. McC was great with Packers. How much of that is A-Rod and how much was him, I don't know. I just don't believe we should dismiss him out of hand.

There are rumors going around that McD has been on Tepper’s radar for over a year. If thats true he has to be the early favorite.

I like Bienemy. He’s worked under Reid and that coaching tree is pretty impressive.

Going to watch the Vikings game and see what Stefanski does against that defense.

Dont like McCarthy

Dont like Rhule.

Honestly, what is Fewell going to say at his interview?

Something else to consider, Paul DePodesta has been pounding the table for the Browns to hire Stefanski for years

The last guy he recommended they hire for HC was Sean McDermott.

Haslam never listens to this guy, but his analytics department seems to have highly predictive models for evaluating head coaching talent.  Not many people believed McDermott would translate well moving up to head coach.

Would you consider Jim Harbaugh proven, even without a SB win? And would you get excited about him?

Based on what I've seen and read, my favorite two are Bieniemy and McDaniels, with a slight edge to McDaniels. Both guys appear to be smart and design good offensive schemes.

Bieniemy has strong leadership characteristics and seems to have learned how to be tough on the guys despite being a former player.

I love the stuff I've read on McDaniels about how adaptive he is and how multiple the Patriots offense has been.

I'd give the slight edge to McDaniels based on his experience of doing the job before. Just be sure to get the contract signed in blood before you announce it so you don't get another Indy situation.

I saw how stale McCarthy's offense got towards the end in Green Bay. No thank you.

With Stefanski, wasn't impressed with what I saw from the Minnesota offense in a big game against Green Bay on Monday night.

As far as Rhule, I wasn't impressed with his plan in the bowl game. I also think we're much more into him than he is into us and that's not a good dynamic.
