In this thread, argue why the pick SHOULDN'T be a lineman.

Recommended Posts

It’s an easy argument, you don’t pick a lineman with a 88 grade over another position with a 92 grade(making up numbers here but gets the point across.

Here is another way to think of it, think in terms of tiers.

Ignore the QBs,, there is one guy in tier one, Young.  Probably 3-5 guys in tier 2.  You don’t pass on a tier 2 guy to take a tier 3 lineman.

Carolina isnt one player away.  they need multiple pieces.  Need to stock the cabinets again.  I really see them trading back and acquiring more picks.  If there is a qb there at #7, I think Carolina trades back with the colts picking up #13 and both their 2nds.

I like it, but they won't get but one of the second rounders.  Still, that is one extra player

The boards are going to fluctuate a lot in the next 3 months

You know this place, when someone runs a sub 4.4 at the combine, they will trade their firstborn to pick that guy.  Guaranteed.  Happens every year here

Well lets see...Free Agency, young Greg Little and we don't have a QB.  The first will be a QB if one is there.

DL need isn't as large a need as everyone thinks.  KK will be back and we might resign McCoy and or Butler.  LB in Free Agency as well.  Not that big a deal to build a competitive team here.

Problem with most of this board is if you don't have a superstar at every position, you suck.  Not true.

Without at least a solid QB that can actually play you cant win consistently.  End of story.

Right now we only have two DTs under contract and they're both north of 30 and coming off of season ending injuries. We also only have one proven every down NFL DE and he's also north of 30 and... oh wait, nope. Mario is a pending free agent too. Our DL need is every bit as big as our OL need. If the staff thinks they have something to work with in Little and/or Daley then our DL needs honestly might surpass our OL needs. Our trenches are a disaster on both sides of the ball.

Yeah I know...I keep hearing all that.  There are multiple ways to address the needs but its not that bad.  I like the young pass rushers and we can fill in otherwise.  Let the new coaching group go to work,  I am pretty damn excited to see the new path.

Sure there are multiple ways to address the needs, that's always the case. The bottom line is that it desperately needs to be addressed. The needs are absolutely not overblown.

Guess I don't feel its desperation.  I can’t name a DT on the KC team.  Totally understand the thinking but at 7 you have to take the highest rated player on your board.  At 7 you have to be talking LT right?  I think this board better get real that Hurney is not going LT there.  He won’t  wrong or not.  If you mean Brown then yes...definitely on the radar.  I seriously am not completely sold Brown is a slam dunk Pro bowl talent.  Just not.

I think that if Herbert is there we will be fitting him for a jersey.  I don't love that but I could see this happening.  We might even trade up for him.

Derrick Brown had, what, 2 sacks in college?

Imagine wasting a top 10 pick that should be a Hall of Famer, on a run stuffing DT

Certainly not the whole story on him but I watched him in multiple games and he was fairly average.  Flash plays yes but not the monster I keep hearing about.

Watching the Bama Auburn game what stood out was 74 for Bama moving people 15 yrds off the line of scrimmage.  Wills is nasty but is he a RT?

    • Yes. It's fluff time anyways but it's getting a bit ridiculous. I don't believe this mix has ever worked for the Panthers before. Break .500 and then start the hype.
    • While I have a chance to be overly excited I'll take that opportunity. The team will determine what happens with that. It's been a while since we've had much to be excited about, I'd say let's just embrace it and see how it unfolds.
    • Knowns: top 10 o line 2 proven, quality RBs 2 proven, WRs who get open and catch everything. 2 others who show a lot of ‘potential’ A QB who improved greatly in the last few games of the season, topped off by putting up a 40 burger win in OT in this franchise’s kryptonite house. What will transpire this season is yet to be seen.  defense has far less proven. 2  very good CBs, a stud DT (coming off a major injury) and the rest is, again, ‘potential.’ A DC that is essentially starting the season on the hot seat.  This is not 2003, but it could be good. 2003 was the most stacked roster from top to bottom that this team has ever had. This squad finished on a big upswing, yes, but we’ll see.  I think it all comes down to how spiked your hopium is. The running game is where it is for the team. This is not a defense that will win 3 points games. Just not. To win, this team will have to dominate TOP and come up with 2+ more 3rd down stops each game. Again, do-able and should be good for at least a 7 point differential in our favor, ‘hopefully.’  I will say that it is nice seeing talent that actually belongs in the NFL on our roster.
