In this thread, argue why the pick SHOULDN'T be a lineman.

Guess I don't feel its desperation.  I can’t name a DT on the KC team.  Totally understand the thinking but at 7 you have to take the highest rated player on your board.  At 7 you have to be talking LT right?  I think this board better get real that Hurney is not going LT there.  He won’t  wrong or not.  If you mean Brown then yes...definitely on the radar.  I seriously am not completely sold Brown is a slam dunk Pro bowl talent.  Just not.

I think that if Herbert is there we will be fitting him for a jersey.  I don't love that but I could see this happening.  We might even trade up for him.

Defense is less of a concern when you have a historic offense.

True...agree man.  I think it could be awesome to build the offense this season and roll with it.  Gotta see the goals of this staff first.  Loving this offseason

Right now we only have two DTs under contract and they're both north of 30 and coming off of season ending injuries. We also only have one proven every down NFL DE and he's also north of 30 and... oh wait, nope. Mario is a pending free agent too. Our DL need is every bit as big as our OL need. If the staff thinks they have something to work with in Little and/or Daley then our DL needs honestly might surpass our OL needs. Our trenches are a disaster on both sides of the ball.

Yep.. Maybe a bigger need than Oline.. Atleast we have bodies under contract  on Oline  ..

Skill players are rare---a top QB, CB, #1 WR---they are not found after the first round.

The Panthers have a developing T, and Paradis played better as the season progressed.  If we draft an OL, it wll be a G or C.  Top 10?  Nope.

Yes, Brown would be good, but we can find a DT in free agency and the draft is deep at DT.

How many shutdown CBs are there?  1? Okudah.

How many WRs come out who have the speed, route running. and hands like Jeudy?   A: 0  How good would our WR corps be with Jeudy, Moore, Sameul, Hogan?  A: Real good.

If a top QB drops, how to you pass on that? A: you don't.

The drop off between Juedy and the next best WR isn't massive in this class.

Just about every scouting report I've read says Jeudy is a route running guru with an extraordinary IQ in creating separation, not to mention his raw athleticism. He's quite the catch (pun intended)! One of the best to come out in years according to some!

I would classify it as Jeudy as the sole once-in-5-year talent v. about 7-8 that equate to first-rounders with star potential.  This class is magnificent.  Tyler Johnson. YES

OK if we're talking about the #7 pick, we'll probably take someone on the line.  The only non-QBs not playing on the line that would be in that range would be Okudah or Simmons or perhaps Jeudy.  I'm not sold on a WR with our roster, we just re-upped with Shaq, but we could sure use Okudah.  Re-sign Bradberry and we got both sides covered. It's amazing how good coverage can help a D-line.

I will say that we will see what this new front office will do.  I'm not convinced we won't trade back and pick up extra picks, especially if Tua or Herbert fall to 7.

    • Panthers sign OT Rasheed Walker Terms: One year, up to $10 million Grade: A The price of this deal might be the most shocking of free agency thus far. Walker was widely considered the best free agent tackle this year and was expected to receive a large contract. But his market developed very slowly, so he has signed a one-year deal with a maximum value of $10 million -- meaning the base value is below that -- per NFL Network. For context, my free agency contract model projected a deal averaging $21.8 million for Walker. Instead, it's a short-term commitment for less than half that. And the Panthers are the beneficiaries. Carolina entered this offseason with a possible need at left tackle after Ikem Ekwonu suffered a patellar tendon rupture in the playoffs that put his 2026 season in question. It's also the last year of his contract. The Panthers signed Stone Forsythe as an insurance plan already in free agency, but once Walker's market fell it seemed like they felt adding him was well worth it, too. Our win rate metrics consider Walker to be a solid player. Last season in Green Bay, he was in the 85th percentile among tackles in pass block win rate, though only 22nd percentile in run block win rate. He was in the 69th percentile and 48th percentile in those two metrics in 2024, respectively. Given that Dan Moore Jr. received $20.5 million per year from the Titans last year most -- myself included -- thought Walker would walk away with more than that. Perhaps the struggles of Moore (who wasn't great last season) contributed to Walker's market being cooler than expected, a theory that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggested. Walker was also arrested two months ago at LaGuardia Airport in New York for allegedly trying to check-in with a firearm that he had a license for in Wisconsin but not New York. Either way, teams felt differently about Walker than most on the outside thought. But he's a heck of an add for the Panthers at this price. While his run-game contributions might be far from perfect, a weak pass protector at tackle can sink a passing game. Even if this is only a one-year arrangement, Walker should be able to help keep Bryce Young upright
    • Fantastic signing. If he is good, this will make next offseason really interesting. I would imagine that Morgan would try to extend Walker and convince Ikey to move to the right side to replace Moton. This also opens up options at 19 at lot instead of forcing a tackle. I'm not a fan, but I'm definitely more open to Morgen drafting Sadiq now, but there is also Peter Woods, and even some like Dillon Thieneman is now in the mix. Hell, I'm still for another off ball LB.
    • sure, but Panthers are theoretically in their win now window. Their first rounder needs to be a day one starter
