Your right. They aren't proven in the pros. When are you going to give that a rest, and enjoy the ride?

I seriously doubt this coming season is going to be an enjoyable ride, and I'm not getting my hopes up looking for one. Wouldn't bet on the following season being especially fun either.

I hope the plan works for the long term, but it's far from guaranteed.

Regarding Hurney? Honestly, no. The guy is terrible. He's been proven to be terrible. He's currently being terrible again.

My gut says that when Cam is cut Tepper trots Hurney out to face the music and then promptly fires him shortly thereafter.  At least that is what I hope happens to hurney

We'll see. Honestly though, that would cause me to lose all respect for Tepper as a man. If you want to make a bold decision, fine. But own it and stand behind it and don't use somone else as a public scapegoat for that decision.

I agree. I really wanted to like Tepper and give him the benefit of the doubt, but it seems to be getting harder and harder to buy into what he's trying to sell. And with him saying that bit about developing players I seriously doubt we go OT in the first even if the top OT is there for the taking. Sounds like Tepper thought Hurney was bringing in the right guys all along and it was Rivera and Co. Who failed to get the most out of those players. Interesting. Very interesting.

Well...

If you look at the defensive roster at the beginning of 2019, there's no way you would have guessed the Panthers would be the 4th worst run defense in the league. McCoy, Short, Poe, Irvin, Addison is not the 4th worst run defense in the league talent. Not to mention Luke and Shaq behind them.

Zack threw out that theory a while back.

Yeah, I remember. I'm not saying that it absolutely won't happen, but damn that sure would be a pure chicken poo move from a guy who claims to have brass balls and honestly a really dumb move by someone who is supposedly so intelligent because any idiot should be able to see that everyone is going to see right through that charade.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Marty "retire" rather than be fired or demoted.

For a guy with a rep for being ruthless, Tepper sure does seem to care about whether or not he hurts Marty's feelings.

I doubt he cares. I think he knows he's making a huge roll of the dice and he wants his fall guy if it all fails spectacularly. Hurney is the perfect patsy. He's fully willing to be an owner's puppet and everyone honestly expects him to fail spectacularly anyway because we've already seen that play out once before.

I'll grant that Marty is that stereotypical "suck up to the boss any way you can" guy.

You just always hope the boss isn't dumb enough to fall for it (Richardson certainly was).

The other part of this is that in college you can have 100+ players on your team.

Not on scholarship you can’t, and let’s be real, non scholarship guys are practice bodies, nothing more.

Not that there’s anything wrong with your core point, but it took me all of 5 seconds to Google the scholarship cap for D1. If you’re gonna throw numbers out, might as well get them right.
