My gut reaction: Somebody's fishing for a trade up offer, but that would mean passing on Chase Young, allowing him to drop to the Lions or, conceivably, the division rival Giants. Does that make sense?

Regarding Dwayne Haskins, Rivera is referring to him as "a good young player" but it's known that Dan Snyder "encouraged" the previous administration to draft him when the coaching staff didn't really want to.

So are they really looking to replace Haskins, is this just due diligence (FYI: Rivera says it isn't) or is it smokescreen / bullsh-t?

Remember, there's no GM up there yet. Rivera has full power.

They're going to check out all the top rated guys and more. Just normal procedure during a draft

Either they draft a Qb or they dont you cant bluff your way into a trade

Teams trade ahead of other teams interested in the player they want not with that team

Dolphins could take Young, Simmons or Okudah at 5 trade one of their other 2020 1st gain another 2021 1st and set themselves up good for a QB next draft

If Rivera has full power, anyone with a FO job who honestly believes Rivera would pass on Young should be relieved of their duties. It is easily the most predictable pick of the entire draft imo.

I don't buy that he would.

With that said, what if Miami made a great offer?

I dont see any way Ron passes on Young.  Its just lip service.  He is getting the best player by far in the draft at pick 2.  He isnt dumb enough to mess that up

I'm not sure I put a whole lot of faith in the phrase "Ron's not dumb enough to do that" when it comes to personnel management.

Mind you, I don't believe he will.

Inclined not to think so, just hedging because no track record of him calling the shots on that. If you put a gun to my head my guess is Ron can’t wait to get his hands on Young.
