Let's play: "Do not be surprised if..."

After the combine, I am more certain that we will draft a QB or LB Simmons in the first round.  So I will start.  Instead of bashing my heritage and trying to obtain my dental records to prove your point, simply respond with your own, "Don't be surprised if...." That way, I do not have embarrass you so badly you have to change your fake name and icon.  :shades:

Seriously--I would like to see this pinned if we get a good variety of answers---I imagine someone will say something that actually happens.  Feel free to share your rationale, unless you rarely or never have one.

Don't be surprised if we draft a QB in round 1 if Herbert or Tua is there.  Here is why I think so.  Cam was just given an "endorsement." Skeptics disagree that it was sincere, huggers threw a parade.  However, let's say the Chargers sign Bridgewater and the Dolphins trade up for Tua and Detroit falls back. Indy and Tampa need a lot of coin to climb that high, but they decide to wait to see what happens because the Panthers (#7) committed to Cam and the Cards have Murray. In fact, I would think that Jacksonville or Las Vegas MIGHT take a top QB if on the board, so the plan could be to trade with Arizona at #8--much cheaper than moving in front of us.  That would mean that the QB falls to the Panthers.  However, they have been so bad at playing Poker this season--or good at it---I would not be surprised to see Cam get traded AFTER or DURING the draft.  So if the Panthers take Herbert, for example, Cam is immediately on the block.

Don't be surprised if we take Isiah Simmons.  Sam Mills, Dan Morgan, Jon Beason, Luke Keuchly, Lester Towns---(kidding about the last one)--this franchise has had as many good MLBs as the Bears. While I like Murray too, I think Simmons gives the DC more flexibility.  At 240, he ran a 4.39 --just watch his film/tape/video clips. The Midway Maulers played in a different era--and Simmons (4.39--who does that?) gives you the athleticism we just lost. Yes, we need DTs and Brown/Kinlaw are awesome, but I get the feeling we are going to build the defense this year---and I think we could take the elite LB to team with Shaq.  It is hard to imagine Marty not taking the safest player in the draft, one that gives him an immediate "attaboy" in the fall.  Marty loves to draft LBs.

Another point---after Murray (4.53, 240), who is there to play ILB?  Why not take a LB that can cover any RB/TE on the field?  A guy who can play FS, SS, 3-4 OLB, 4-3 ILB and OLB?

After Kinlaw and Brown, if that is your taste, you still have some solid DTs--several of them---but if you want an elite LB--they will be gone.

I still think the pick is Simmons or Herbert.  However, do not be surprised if a team like the NYG or Lions surprise us all and take him.

Thank God February is OVER!!

I believe we will take a MLB also! This seems to be the Hurndog way... just depends how much the new coaching staff has say in which way they wanna go. I’d think they have a better understanding of the rookie field as they just came out of the college ranks.

I want Patrick Queen at MLB in round 2!

I have seen great things and scary things (about him at Mike).  But the reason I think Simmons is awesome--he can play nickel--(I forgot it).  Imagine the looks you could give the QB and have your mike take the nickel spot.  Not fair.

Oof I hope not. Only way a mlb is worth a top 20 pick is if he’s an all world generational player. Would have to get really lucky for that lightening to strike twice. And our need on the DL is infinitely greater and harder to fill than at LB.  I’m expecting a MLB to be signed in FA

Don't be surprised if-45catfan is cussing out Hurney once pick #7 is announced. (Sorta expect it)

I am already cussing him because I know he is going to get stupid--he has never not been stupid.

#7 is going to be tough to screw up.  Brown, Simmons, maybe even Wirfs or Okudah (when the trades start popping, he could float to us).  However, day 2 will be the "We could not believe he was still available--he was on the top of our board..."

Yeah.  What’s the deal with that.

SMALL MARKET.  We are picking after or before an LA team this year--expect to see a lot of Copper fit commercials with Brett Farvre and Jerry Rice playing backyard football with some normal dudes--and kicking their asses.  I mean, who picked those teams?  Captain #1:  I will  take Farvre...Captain #2:  Come on Jimmy.  I got you.  Captain #1:  Ok, I will take Rice....
