I'm sorry for the situation you are in, but a one size fits all reaction is not appropriate and is killing the economy, which will kill many people as well.

In NC, we have had 500 some deaths, most in nursing homes. Meanwhile, half the restaurants and many, many more businesses are projected not to open again. Shutting everything down can and will ruin at least as many lives as the virus.

Things have to start opening with precautions.

Even Cuomo said it would be foolish to make all of New York state wait to open based on what's going on around NYC.  A regional thought process is best.  I feel bad for New Yorkers, but even their own governor isn't advising that we all stay shut down until they can get their stuff together.

I agree. I'm certainly not saying NC should be under the same lockdown as NY. But New York City right now should be a grave warning of what could happen without the proper precaution just like Italy should have been before that. Anyone who knows the extent of what we're dealing wouldn't be rushing to send their children to packed schools or fill stadiums and arenas.

Businesses do need to gradually open back up but we need to be smart about it. Frankly I think scheduling large gatherings at all right now is ridiculous and irresponsible. Like barbershops and nail salons fine, but you might want to cool on the idea of stuffing hundreds if not thousands of people together just for fun in 2020. And I do sincerely believe children in school will be ground zero for any regions that have to deal with it next if it's rushed.

The way you guys live in the NYC area isn't common across the US.  Most people don't live in that version of the world.  You've got almost every disadvantage you can have there.  The idea that its just a preview for everyone else is a myth.

Because we have a president and administration that completely blew the response to this virus. That is why!

Ditto. Trump did not create the virus or bring it in to the country. He IS responsible for the way it was handled and the resulting chaos & death. Why is it so hard for white conservatives to understand?

according to you all, its either Trumps fault that the virus exists, or its Trumps fault that our country is shut down because of it

He waisted alot of time because he thought all of this was just a personal attack against him. So yeah! the is mostly true.

So if a black liberal was in charge nobody would have died from this?

Sure, people would have died but I guarantee not nearly as many because any president with common sense wouldnt have sat on his hands for a full month and done nothing. Now Trum is trying to distance himself from the whole thing and move on like a coward. Because it is hurting his re election hopes.

I know the mods agree with you, but take it to the TB anyway

in nc we would have to have 130k people to be diagnosed to reach 1% of the population

currently we have just over 13k...of those, 2500 from nursing homes, 1100 from correctional facilities

a lot of people, and too many dealing with this...but we need to have some real perspective

For the fiftieth time we're barely testing anybody

As of 11 AM today the DHHS reports that NC has tested 186,362 people or about 1.8% of the state population:

https://www.ncdhhs.gov/divisions/public-health/covid19/covid-19-nc-case-count

We don't have an accurate number of infected people.  Completely misleading bs argument.

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
