Man, damn. How dumb do the Texans have to feel now. Everyone was already joking them about that Hopkins for David Johnson trade. Turns out they could've had Todd Gurley for free just a couple of days later. LOL!

Gurley is probably done in the NFL.   He's in the same boat with Newton.

Gurley rushed for 857 yards last season. He's still a decent RB, he was just way overpaid. That arthritic knee is almost certainly going to cut his career short, but he still has some tread on those tires right now.

Not at the price he wants.  He would have to basically take a 1 year prove it deal.   There's no way I would give him anything more than a 1 year rental contract if I were shopping for a RB.  But I'm sure there's a few other Marty Hurneys out there.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't expect him to get a long-term big money deal, but there's work out there for Todd Gurley if he wants it. Hell, he'd be nice to have to take some carries off of CMC for that matter.

It just makes the Texans look even dumber. Trade an elite WR for a 29 year old RB three years removed from being elite and now it turns out you could've had Todd Gurley with no trade compensation and likely for a lot less than the $10M you're gonna pay David Johnson this season.

For a really low contract, why not? McC 1A, Gurley 1B, keep them both really fresh and rely on the run game to open things up for Teddy and keep him upright.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
