Panthers To Allow Cam Newton To Seek Trade

Is there anybody else besides myself who thinks he doesn't end up with Washington when all is said and done?

Seems like Ron might give him another chance as they have worked it the past. I know they didn't seem like the best of friends during the end, but I believe Ron has a soft spot for Cam in his heart and will give him another shot.

I would say that if Ron doesn't even have him in for an interview you can infer that even Ron doesn't think Cam is worth investing in.  That would be a sad day indeed as it would signal the front offices believe Newton is done in the NFL.

It's just a calamity of bad timing on a lot of fronts. I feel like he has been given poor advice and all parties have  made poor decisions. I still don't understand why Cam waited so long to have surgery. If he had it sooner a lot of these timing issues would not have come into play. Both him and the Panthers would have been able to make better decisions. It is never a good breakup but with his health unknown it created more issues. We all see it is a business and tough choices are made. The front office doesn't have to communicate anything but it would have been a lot better for them to have been more transparent about the decisions. No one is winning with the final results

He was a great player when he had his running game. He is not a great player when forced to be a pocket passer. That much is a given.

Possibly some player will decline to play for the Panthers because they are mad and feel Cam was treated unfairly.

I've not seen any evidence of that but it's surely possible.

Personally I believe it will be a complete non-factor.  Could be wrong, time will tell.  @Delhomme2Muhammad

No agent in their right mind would ever advise that.

Lots of thoughts out there about Cam's value being tanked, etc...

The NFL labor market it pretty darn efficient, and transparent too.

Time and time again teams have proven they will do almost anything to get a talented (high value) player onto the field.  Look at all the trouble Pacman Jones caused yet he played in the league every year from 2005 to 2018.

Time and time again Pacman proved he was the opposite kind of person one would like to have as a face of the franchise, consistently did everything he could to tank his own value,  yet the cutthroat and desperate-to-win nature of the NFL is such that Pacman always found a port to dock his boat.

The NFL labor market will determine Cam's value independent of anything the Panthers do (or did).

What on Earth does Pacman Jones have to do with Cam Newton? #1 has never had any off the field legal troubles ever.

This place is crawling with racist idiots.

It's been like this since we drafted Cam. You know it's bad when people in the media say your fanbase is racist.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
