The market for Newton

The team waited until the last minute to even try to trade him, and then waited until all the seats were taken to release him.

Had the Panthers advertised a month ago they were trading him openly... plenty of teams would have stepped up.

no WAY the Colts prefer Rivers over at least trading for Cam pending a physical,.. That’s just one example.

How do you know they did not tell every GM from every team they could trade for Cam if they wanted him?  I kept hearing at the combine that he was available to any team out there.  Just because Rhule told one thing to the press doesn't mean that what the front office was telling the other GM's.

The NE athletic beat writer is saying the team has no interest in Cam.

Jeff Howe, and Mike Reiss said on NFL Network that the Patriots weren't going after any veteran quarterbacks.

Belichick rolling with Stidham wouldn't exactly be a huge shock. They were pretty happy with what they'd seen of him so far.

I meet with co-workers and clients everyday from home and we conduct business.  If someone wanted to meet with Cam they could.

That’s good for you, but in the nfl breaking rules and regulations have severe consequences, not to mention there’s a microscope on the nfl like most major sports outlets, so a meeting taking place with cam when the nfl has suspended all nfl related activities is going to result in a black lash especially with sports shows already having limited topics

People keep whining that we didn’t get anything for Cam because Hurney screwed up.  No...we didn’t get anything because there isn’t a market for a QB who hasn’t won a game in nearly 2 seasons, and hasn’t been fully healthy for longer than that.

Cams been a free agent for Over 24 hours  and still not a peep as to a team being highly interested.  I love Cam...but this has nothing to do with Hurney or Rhule or Tepper.

You should quit posting on things you have no idea about.

Tepper and Hurney screwed up on this one. The writing was on the wall looooooong before Rhule got here so his hands are clean but not the other two.

Not so sure about that...

I don't blame the Panthers for choosing to move on from Newton. Nor do I think it's completely their fault that they couldn't get anything in return  (admittedly they probably could have handled it better).

The thing that I find most worthy of criticism is that they allowed Newton to believe they were going to keep him as a starter for the coming season. Then when the time came, they pulled the rug out from under him.

Matt Rhule was an active participant in that little exercise.

I don’t blame them at all either knowing what I know BUT they completely mis handled the entire situation and it should’ve been done a lot earlier than you think

Um yeah....

The colts chose Rivers causes they need a guy that can stand in the pocket and throw it.

The bears chose to trade for Foles and take on a stupid contract RATHER than trade for Cam.

The friggen Redskins would rather have KYLE ALLEN than Newton.

The Jags would rather start Minshew than Newton.

etc, etc, etc

all of you guys are going to lose your minds when Winston signs before Cam.

PS - the panthers did him a solid and let him go now. RATHER than waiting till June 1 where they could have saved cap.

I cant respect the way this franchise is transitioning. You dont tell a man, he's your guy, then go get another guy, Bridgwater, then another guy, Walker, then cut the guy you've been telling he's the man. Awful way to do business. And I suspect other vets in the league are looking at it the same way. Sneaky, untrustworthy are some words that come to mind.

There would've been a market for Cam, if they wouldn't have bs'd about it. Really makes me think it was intentional, so they didnt have to eat crow if Cam was traded or cut and signed and went back to MVP/2018 Cam.

I agree. It was a bit messy. Cam was never going to be happy about this. Im sure its embarrassing for him. Also knowing that he will likely make less with a new team than if he stayed.

So I dont think he ever would have been happy about this.

Dude there are still teams without a QB and he still is not signed. If teams thought of him the way you do then teams would have traded for him the MOMENT we signed Teddy.

What are you talking about? Half the teams made there decision before it was known cam wouldn’t be returning, also the panthers don’t save cap by holding onto him til June 1 idk where you got that from. Those losing there marbles because a team didn’t trade for a qb they knew a team had to release eventually Might want to pump the brakes.
