Observers "complete" guide to the draft

The newest Panther beat writer, Alaina Getzenberg,  has been writing some solid articles.  This one is a good summary of the team, depth, team needs, potential players etc.  One section I found interesting was the one about the NFC South free agency moves:

Quote

Panthers lost: QB Cam Newton, QB Kyle Allen, CB James Bradberry, G Trai Turner, TE Greg Olsen, G Greg Van Roten, OL Daryl Williams, DT Dontari Poe, DE Mario Addison, DE Vernon Butler, S Eric Reid.

Panthers signed: QB Teddy Bridgewater, WR Robby Anderson, S Tre Boston, WR Pharoh Cooper, LT Russell Okung, WR Seth Roberts, WR Keith Kirkwood, QB P.J. Walker, LB Tahir Whitehead, G John Miller, DE Stephen Weatherly.

The Panthers had a very busy free agency period. From changing starting quarterback to losing veterans on both lines, Carolina has a lot of rebuilding to take care of in the draft. They did bring in significant depth at wide receiver and helped fortify the offense, but there are still a lot of holes left by defensive starters to be filled.

Buccaneers notable additions and departures:
Lost: QB Jameis Winston, RB Peyton Barber, DE Carl Nassib

Signed: QB Tom Brady, TE Rob Gronkowski

Saints notable additions and departures:
Lost: QB Teddy Bridgewater, LB A.J. Klein, S Vonn Bell

Signed: WR Emmanuel Sanders, S Malcom Jenkins

Falcons notable additions and departures:
Lost: RB Devonta Freeman, TE Austin Hooper, DE Adrian Clayborn, LB Vic Beasley, CB Desmond Trufant

Signed: EDGE Dante Fowler, RB Todd Gurley, TE Hayden Hurst

For the wire cutters who dont have access to watch the draft,  you can do a 7 day free trail with Sling.  Im sure there are other ways but this is cheap and easy

Streaming: ABC App, ESPN app, NFL app (require authentication), Fubo TV (free seven-day trial), Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T Now, Sling TV (all require a subscription)

that lost/gained list reads like a 1st team/2nd team depth chart

I take back everything I've said, we actually may get the 1st pick next season.

We are 100% getting either the 1 or 2 pick.  Think about it.  New coach, new coordinator, new d coordinator, no mini camps, new qb, the overall losses on defense that was already historically bad, relying on a ton of udfa rookies and a decimated oline.  Bro I can promise you this is a 4 win at best team.

4 wins isn't "good enough" to get the 1st overall pick

That's the issue with waiting to take a QB

by the way, I just went to sling and it looks they are letting everyone watch the NFL Draft tonight (at least) free.  I have the NFL Network streaming now and did not sign up for a free trial or give a credit card to them.

They are also offering happy hour, free between 5pm and midnight everyday.  I wonder how long that lasts

    • I don't care what he was billed as.  That's media and fan bs.   I completely agree that, like all QB's, Bryce has things he does very well, things he needs to improve and things he is horrible at.  You're right, he can't just flick his wrist and throw it 60 yards.  He will never throw a pass like Calab Williams did last week or big arm QB's can do.  That's a limitation he does have but he can throw just fine, without having to put everything into it, ie the 43 yard throw to Tetairoa (which he dropped).  There are plenty of very successful Qb's now and in the past who can't throw 60 yards off their back foot.  No matter what video or stat is shared with you, you've shown you don't want or can't hear it.  You'll find some excuse to say why that doesn't matter, over and over.  If you really don't care I'd expect a lot less bitching about him. I agree with you that we should absolutely bring in competition for Bryce.  I think not having a capable backup or competition is a mistake.  Dalton can get you a game or two but it doesn't matter if you love or hate Bryce.  There is nothing realistic behind him. At least, can both agree we love the Panthers and want the team to succeed?
    • Bryce’s ball placement leaves a lot to be desired and leads to lots of contested balls, 50/50 balls and tough catches.   I mean you can call those catchable.  But every QB is going to throw different versions of catchable balls.   and in this fantasy football data overload world….you got folks clearly lumping bad throws in with good throws under the “catchable” umbrella which makes the data not always jive with the eyeball test.
    • We have had awful luck with injuries. If it's significant enough then don't risk it. We really need Legette to get his head out of his ass and step up.
