Shhhh. I'm trying to find a reason to pay attention in the meantime.

I mean, we'll pay attention because we are fans and because it's football. Trust me, there will be a lot of turning the channel to watch other NFL games in my future. I want to watch the Panthers but I don't want every NFL Sunday to be ruined either. I get too emotionally invested, so it's easier just to shut it off and watch some other teams when we are playing teams I hate(divisional rivals, NE, etc) and I am getting pissed off.

Matt Ryan will be almost full turd arm this year.  As long as the Falcons lose their sh*t yet again :)

Ryan in his last 10 games againt the Panthers:

23 TDs

5 INTS

71% completion rate

308 yds per game.

Do you see that changing this year?

Blast away but Id take 2 gloves over Brees and Brady, if you include future seasons. Both finally showed they are not immortal last season, Ryan is still a problem for the next few years.

Ok, there’s homerism and then there’s insane. Look at Brees’ mortal stats against Teddy’s lst year on the same team. In 6 games (threw 90% of the passes against the Rams), Teddy had 1400 yards and 9 TDs. In 10 games, Brees had 3000 and 27TDs. Even coming off injury and looking mortal, Brees blew away Teddy. Brady was better than Teddy and his best weapons were Rex Burkhead and a 33 year old Edelman instead of Kamara and Thomas. I’d bet good money that Brady will way outproduce Teddy. For 2020, I’d take Brady and Brees over Teddy, no question.

Brees had issues on thrown more than 40 towards the last half, he looked like peyton in 2015. Bill has always had a great feel for letting FAs go, Brady looked old(finally) too. Brees/Brady can take all the PEDs known to man, but still are super NFL old. Forget throws, both can not move as well too. Brady has the better weapons and better coaches, he should put up better numbers(same for brees). I doubt either play in 2021, so Id take teddy.

If we're using the most recent season as a yardstick, and that seems a pretty reasonable thing to do, Mahomes is obviously the most feared qb in the league right now and with good reason, no argument there. Brees was also a top five qb in performance last season, so that's 3 games that we should rightly regard as tough tests. However Brady, Ryan and Rogers finished the season with the 17th, 14th and 20th Total QBR last season.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr

None of them are young and the only substantial arguement that can be made to expect any of them to do markedly better this year is Brady moving to a new team with potentially more potent offensive weapons. A counterarguement could also be put forth that he's moving to a team with a HC who favors an offensive style dramatically different from the one that has showcased Brady's strengths his entire career.

Bottom line, five of these games do not especially frighten me. They are against aging qb's who are all showing signs of slowing down and none of whom put up particularly impressive statistical seasons last year. We have always had to deal with Brees and that will be a stiff challenge, and I would greatly prefer to watch Mahomes play against literally ANYBODY else, but on the bright side a midseason game against him will have given Rhule and Snow two months to put their defense into place and will be an intriguing measuring stick as to how that process is progressing.

Ryan has a new OC every 2 years....he’s always much better in year 2. Plus the Falcons OL gave up 50 sacks last year which led the NFL. Can see Ryan being markedly better if the pass blocking improves.

Giving up that many sacks in an offense that's predicated on getting the ball out quickly is pretty bad.

Heard this mentioned on the radio earlier today...

We've got two games against Tom Brady, two against Matt Ryan, one against Aaron Rodgers and one against Patrick Mahomes.

Throw in two games against Drew Brees, who many people argue should have won an MVP but surprisingly never has.

Our defense is definitely going to get tested this season.

On the good side, if we have a good coaching staff that can look at what happens critically and analytically, then they can learn, tune and build something on the fly and for the future in the toughest testing environment in the NFL. If they are smart, then there can be a lot of gain from pain.

Where do you get the Falcons offense is based on getting thr ball out quickly? Thats never been a staple in Koeters offense, nor Sark before him, nor Shanahan before him. Their offensive line has just been terrible.

Shannahan’s offense wasn’t based on getting rid of the ball quickly? Did you not see the 49ers screen us to death last year?

fug man this fan base does absolutely no homework on anything. Ever.

Fuq man....do you not realize the a screen is not a "quick release" pass??   On screen pass you want to HOLD the ball as long as possible and draw the D LINE in....on a quick release you are doing no more than a 3 step drop and the ball is out..No more...how often you see Ryan doing a 3 step drop? It does happen...not often....fuq man do you know what you are talking about?????
