18.5M over 2 seasons, one of which he was absolutely horrible, the next is coming upon us soon.

If he's not great, and I mean great, it's a terrible signing.

Psssst....it will be a terrible signing, for a rebuilding team, that needs comp picks, and cap room, and passed up multiple IOL guys in the draft last year.

The problem with your analysis is that when he was signed we weren't rebuilding, were what many though was going to be a contender with Cam coming back, and we're only a couple of players away it seemed . It is easy to look now at what happened and say what we should have done in retrospect. But you can only blame Hurney so much for not being Nostradamus with Tepper and now Rhule pulling the strings. Instead of worrying about the Paradis money I see the 45 million in dead cap space which is also the result of this reboot.

Yeah Otah was actually a great player. Can’t blame anyone for him not succeeding, just terrible injury luck. I wished we could’ve seen Cam early on with Gross and Otah at tackle.

Nah. He was a wuss and didn't want to play with an injury that isn't career ending or that debilitating. I have no cartilage in my right knee after a bucket handle tear and have dealt with it for 30 years.  After playing his senior year on a messed up ankle I can understand while a cartilage injury in one knee ended his career

Here is the interesting story about our OL--look past this year:

1. LT contract expires--likely gone.

2. C Paradis:  His contract will not be worth it.  He is likely gone after 2020.

3. RT Moton: Contract expires.  Re-signing him will be expensive.

4. RG Miller:  Contract expires.

5. LG Schofield Contract expires.

6. G/C Reed Contract expires.

It is possible that the entire OL will be playing their final season in Carolina--I think Moton gets re-signed and Paradis (if he has a good year) gets 2021 reworked.

I was looking ahead too, this is a giant issue. Still need at least 2 DTs after drafting 2 this year too. Panthers better hope the new OL coach can work miracles.  I will give some credit, panthers needed about 25 this year, that number should be closer to 12 next(including all 5 OLmen). Thats a vast improvement and if by some miracle Little or Daley could be a 2021 starter that would be great.

This team is going to need 2 FULL seasons and that following offseason to get back in the playoff race. Thats if they have very few fug-ups too, with Marty driving the bus we're in good hands.

Gotta find a new franchise QB too. Teddy ain't it, he's a placeholder.

I havnt made up my mind on Teddy. Id say he has a 40% chance at being the "guy". Main reason I feel hes a great fit for Brady, team comp, and especially Rhule too. This is a check down heaven for a QB and thats one of Teddys strong suites. I believe he will have the his best numbers for his career this season.(i felt a lot stronger about that before the virus topk over). Lastly with the D looking like they can not hold teams below 40, Teddy will get PLENTY of snaps trying to score.

Whats wrong with him now?

I believe it was off-season ankle surgery. Still said hes excepted back "soon".  Its a bad sign when you have all sort of injuries during the season(head, knee, etc) Then have a full off-season and can not be ready for the start of TC AND its a different injury. sigh

The Panthers have literally drafted one offensive tackle in 26 years worth a poo. The current GM has covered about 50% of that time. God help us.

Moton, Chris Terry, and Blake Brockermeyer were ok. Otah had one great year, then got hurt and unmotivated. I get what youre saying tho. I said this a few times now- Its easier to find a great QB, than a great LT.

Edit- forgot about Wharton too, yea he was mainly a LG, but he started a few games at LT.

Thats not really a strong rebuttal

I keep forgetting we got rid of Turner. Our interior line is going to be the worst we’ve ever had I think.

And we drafted 0 interior OL in 3 years. 2 of the 3 years were phenomenal interior OL drafts. We knew we were losing Ryan Kalil and Norwell back to back years and we traded Turner for a tackle. Hurney did nothing to address interior OL. The Saints lose their C and replace him immediately with McCoy and then take Ruiz a year later. Solidify their OL for years. We’ve got one starting OL under contract in 2021 and he was our worst OL last year. If we don’t draft Little we could have easily replaced Ryan and Turner and just needed to sign Moton to lock down 3/5 of the OL for years and just work on two spots.
