What's sad is that people think this place is awful and here y'all are anyway. What does that say about your life that you don't have anything better to do than hang out and post on a forum you think is awful?

There's a pandemic that is keeping me from being where I want to be and I'm looking for a new vehicle and I'm frustrated.

I mean...try to remove yourself from the equation and answer objectively whether or not you think it's sad that there are actually fans of a team who spend hours upon hours every week actively trying to convince other fans of their team (who are in contrast, hopeful and optimistic) that their optimism is unfounded and that their team actually sucks.  Again...this is a team you are a fan of, that you root for, that you've grown up rooting for....but a team which you spend a sizable chunk of your free time arguing on a message board is just a really terrible team with a terrible quarterback managed by a terrible GM.

It's one thing to be a "realist" and maybe roll your eyes at perceived homerism on these boards...but to be so unconscionably offended at the sight of optimism that you feel the need to pop into inconsequential fluff threads like "Teddy Bridgewater is a natural leader!" or whatever to say "Hey guys guys slow down...Teddy has been mediocre for his whole career! That's just a fact" is just downright bizarre and deserves some self-reflection.  Maybe it's true...but why care that much to spend an inordinate amount of your free time arguing that case ad nauseum across several threads?  The "homer" opposition is at least somewhat rational and justifiable because fans of a team are generally passionate in support of their team (outside of these boards) and don't take kindly to others trashing it.

You seem to be a big-time Cam Newton fan...imagine if you were a regular on some Cam Newton fan forum and there was a contingency of posters going into every thread about Cam being a great passer and being like "Well, actually...check out these statistics of his completion percentage against other QBs".  Then you make a thread about no one having carried their team's offense as much as Cam in NFL history and then the same guy from the other thread was like "Well, actually...Cam is number 4 in total % of team offensive yardage".  And then you make another thread about Cam having so much fire and passion and putting his body on the line to win over and over again, and YET AGAIN the same guy from the last two threads comes in and says "Well, remember he didn't jump on that fumble in the Super Bowl?".  Then you call him out and you're like "What is your deal? Why are you even here? Are you even a Cam fan?" and he's like "Woah bro I'm a huge Cam Newton fan, I'm just being a realist...not everything has to be sunshine and rainbows". At what point are you thinking this dude just has a sad life?

Tom Brady and Teddy Bridgewater. Great comparison. Gold star to you.

Generally speaking, if you look at two things being compared to one another as being considered equivalent to one another, you lack basic comprehension skills.  Plenty of garbage QBs have played in dink and dunk offenses.  The only statement I'm making is that how frequently you throw the deep ball, and how far you can throw it, has almost nothing to do with being a good offense or a good football team.

I'm not the one posting on a forum that I think is sad.

I barely come in here and it has gotten sad without football content.  Back when the new content function was available this place was fun even when we sucked.

My only knock against Lawrence is the same knock that every QB on an elite college team has - he rarely is asked to carry the offense and his offense has a talent advantage nearly across the board every week over the opposing defense. It was true of Burrows in last year's draft. It'll be true for Lawrence and Fields in next year's draft. It is what it is. Evaluating QBs is HARD.

NC against ND/Alabama and the playoff game against Ohio State he shined. Ohio State was him carrying the offense. He won that game and I was impressed. Okudah destroyed Higgins and Ross wasn’t the same WR in this year’s CFP. If you told me that Etienne would have 36 yards rushing and that Higgins and Ross would combine for 80 yards receiving, there’s no way I would have guessed that Clemson would win or score 29 against a freaking great D. OSU had 3 D players drafted in the first with Okudah and Young at 3 and 2 and another CB in the first. DT and LB in the 3rd. Another CB should go first round this year. I came away very impressed that game as even with a huge hit by Young (I think it was him), Lawrence carried that offense when his WRs did nothing and Etienne had no room to run.

I’m a big Lawrence fan. The LSU game was by far his worst, but as a true sophomore, it’s going to happen. 933 yards passing and 10 TDs with no turnovers against the other 3 with a ton of first round D talent is impressive as a 19/20 year old.

It is hard to evaluate QBs but he’s going to be about as high as you can grade. I hope Fields and Lance are as well because I don’t know if we’ll get the top pick.

These guys hate it when you compare Bridgewater to Brady or Brees, even though it is obvious they play the same way.  All anyone is saying when they compare them is that the style of play does work in the NFL, so give him a chance. They also will not hesitate to compare him to Kyle Allen, which is just as bad a comparison the other way.

Brady was the #4 rated deep passer in the NFL last year.

The comparison between Allen and Bridgewater is MUCH closer than a comparison between Brady and Bridgewater. To claim otherwise is absolutely absurd.

I think all those are bad Teddy comparisons.

I actually think overall in his career....Teddy is more of an Alex Smith type.   People will take that as a massive knock in some circles.  But it isn't intended to be that.

Brees is just old now.  Brees overall has always had a risky mindset.  Teddy doesn't have that IMO.

    • I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.

    • yeah I was hoping  that we stayed put & drafted Levis at #9  i even said on here after we foolishly traded up for Bryce Young that I would not be surprised whatsoever if the Bears were picking #1 overall with our pick this year but what ...just saying
