I did not want any part of this "rebuilding process" because I knew it was going to suck. I have accepted the fact that we are going to be terrible, so I am mentally prepared for 2-4 wins. The only thing I am left hoping is that eating poo for these next few years is worth it. If we land an elite QB prospect after year one of sucking.......this could go really well.

Or we get a QB prospect and spend 3-4 years developing him only to realize that he is not the answer.  Then we have to start over again

Best case:  Teddy plays great and shows he is a franchise QB and we build around him.

Other Best case:  We play bad enough to draft one of the top 3 QBs without having to trade up.

Worst Case:  Teddy is average and we find a way to win enough games to not be able to draft one of the top 3 QBs.

Yeah but what other real hope is there at this point? It's fun to hope that our merry band of young guys and journeymen is going to develop into New England dynasty but that isn't very likely. We are likely to find out we have a small core of highly talented guys to build around and the rest are largely JAG's or players that are going to be out of the league in 3-4 years.

Not really so much different than a typical bad NFL team but we willingly embarked on this venture, so some of it we just have to accept. We could also just as easily flounder along with 5-9 win seasons and never really accomplish much more than we have historically. I would rather eat poo big and have a chance at finding "the guy" than meander along in mediocrity forever and just hope we catch lightening in a bottle. 

But, of course, any time you are searching for a franchise QB, it's a crap shoot. I'm in the camp that just doesn't ever see Bridgewater being a franchise QB. He's been on multiple franchises that didn't see it(one obviously due to a horrific injury) and there aren't many stories of journeyman QB's that suddenly ascend to franchise QB status.

I am extremely worried about that Worst Case. That would be a disaster.

Yeah, I get the positivism from some of the fans. I completely understand why you want to think the best. But, we need to be realistic about what we are as a franchise right now. Being realistic isn't hatred towards the players, coaches, team, etc. It's unfair to saddle them with higher than reasonable expectations because that will definitely turn fans against them.

I don't blame Rhule or the players for what is likely to transpire. It is what it is. We have to build from somewhere. What you want to see is that we play hard, compete no matter the beatings we take, a young core shows potential to build around and that we appear to at least have a cohesive idea of what we want to do on a game to game basis. 

I don't want to see a bunch of games where we get the fuging doors blown off of us. I don't want to see that the players have visibly checked out. I don't want to see coaching or playcalling that indicates we don't know what the fug we are doing. I don't want to see the talented young players already on our team regress badly.

If we can avoid those things and the vision for the future becomes clear, I don't care if we only win 1-4 games. We aren't built to win now. We are built to BUILD now.
