For most, the expectations in terms of wins this season are low for the Panthers.

So, if you're not necessarily expecting wins, what is going to make you tune in?

My top 5...

1. Derrick Brown. This is THE guy I wanted in the draft. IMO, this guy can be Kris Jenkins minus the conditioning issues that likely heavily (pun fully intended) contributed to the knee injuries that derailed his career.

2. Joe Brady. We all saw what his offense did at LSU. A team known for playing great D with just enough offense to scrape by suddenly overnight fielded one of the most prolific offenses college football has ever seen. One thing to note though that I'm not sure many fans are aware of is that while it was Brady's offense at LSU, he wasn't the actual play caller on game day. So what we saw was his offense but not him actually running it on a play by play basis.

3. Rhule and the rest of the staff. I just want to see how well they have the team prepared under very difficult circumstances and how they handle in-game coaching, halftime adjustments, etc. My main concern is Snow. I hope I'm wrong but I just have a feeling he's going to be in over his head at the NFL level and if he's in over his head with this defensive roster our D has the potential to be all-time bad.

4. CMC. Hey, he's always fun to watch.

5. Jeremy Chinn. How are we going to use this guy? Very intriguing physical talent.

can't wait to hear you teddy b speech for the hundred thousandth time.  sorry, i couldn't help myself

Confirmation that Rhule belongs in the NFL and all the nepotistic hires and player signing weren't a mistake. I like him but I just need a little confirmation.

Most coaches go with familiarity hires. I definitely expect some of these guys not to be able to make the transition to the NFL. I just hope to see Rhule realize that and make changes. Please no more Shulas that hang around forever despite being terrible.

I want to see our DT's get push up the middle to get the QB off his spot.

I want to see the defense as a whole get after the QB.

I want to see the offense play with efficiency. Take what the defense gives us and methodically move the ball down the field for 7.

I want to see our young secondary make crucial plays as a unit.

I want to see our ST get it in.

I want to see the Carolina Panthers play as a team!

I want to see us not look like swiss cheese against the run. We did just fine getting after the QB last year. We were 2nd in the NFL in sacks and 8th in pressure percentage. We were bottom 5 in virtually every rushing defensive category and dead last in some key ones - those being yards per carry and rushing TDs allowed. Hopefully we'll see that improve with drafting Brown and Roy, getting KK back, and adding some size at DE with Gross-Matos and Weatherly.

Looking forward to seeing:

1) Joe Brady's offense. If he was able to implement what he did at LSU in this weird offseason and lack of a preseason, I'll be genuinely impressed. I hope to see a diverse, multi-faceted and balanced offense that takes the load off of Christian McCaffrey, although I don't expect that to happen right away.

2) In-Game Adjustments. Ron Rivera was notorious for his frustrating lack of in-game adjustments. I'm hoping this new coaching staff is less stubborn and is able to make changes on the fly. I'm also hoping to see a team that can come back from deficits. I was really sick of watching Panthers teams of old that would get down by 2 scores and you'd know the game was over.

3) Watching the young defense. I am excited the team put a lot of draft stock into defensive players, in particular Jeremy Chinn. He seems like a potential replacement for Thomas Davis down the road. If the young guys can take their lumps and grow after being thrown into the fire early on in their careers, the Panthers could have a very good defense in a couple of years.

Looking forward to a couple big runs early in the game allowing Robbie to get loose deep. I’m looking for us to move the ball at will. Putting up a 40 burger on the Raiders.

Defensively I can see our guys out performing our expectations. Our O scoring early can change a teams game plan and once you become one dimensional it forces errors, tips, picks or fumbles. This may be a bad team to judge us on because they’re probably a lesser talented team.

True but more often than not those are experienced NFL coaches who (hopefully) bring their guys up through the ranks. Rhule having basically no NFL  experience making his a d coord who also has basically no NFL experience coach a defense who is relying on several players who have no NFL experience is a little scary.
