Phil Snow's Defense

Oh, I'd still say it was personnel today.

Specifically, the personnel that coach and play for Detroit...

Won't argue that Stafford being hurt didn't make a huge difference but we tackled better and covered better than at any time this year. I don't think we rushed 3 all day.  It was easy to see the change in scheme today as well as execution.

Today's defence was a totally different defence than what we've seen this season so far. Much more aggressive rather than being passive & sitting back, letting opposing QBs pick our secondary apart. And better tackling too. The absence of Tahir Whitehead was greatly noticeable, and for the better.

Wow, really... First off, I never called for or insinuated that he should be fired. I did say that our defensive issues, prior to this game, was on coaching and not players. Although many Huddlers said our defense was bad because we have so many players that were @$÷_. No, I'm not repeating it. I didn't agree with it then and I don't now. Our issues against the Lions were corrected and Phil Snow deserves a pat on the back...

Hey man,

Was totally just digging up the first thread about Snow once we had that shutout. Wasn’t trying to attack you personally or anything. Yours just happened to be the first one I could find.

Amazing how good this pass rush look with a multiple score lead.

Also Burns is my new lord and savior.

Amazing how this pass rush looked when we actually rushed 4 like a normal defense and blitzed(More packages and different gaps) more than 5% of the time.

If there was some degenerate prop bet about the panthers D causing a shutout, Id lost all my moneyz on betting against that happening.

Besides one half against Bucs, Phil Snow has been the NFL assistant of the year. Doing it with rookies and cast-offs, still holding their own against Mahomes, Brees, and other elite players/teams. Like going back in time and get a 165 LB boxer. Put him fighting against current ranked Heavyweights and its going to the judges scoring card each fight.

Phil Snow strikes again. Over and over repeating the same soft zone coverage, auth little to no pressure on the QB throughout the game. Surely I right thought this wild change during their 2min offense. Fur sure we'd tighten up coverage and try to keep plays inside. No, we just let em walk straight down the field, again.

You were telling people that the only guys criticizing Teddy aren’t actually Panther fans. If you criticize Snow then you aren’t a true Panther fan. Am I doing it right?

    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
    • The Jets and Bill's are statistically worse
