Seeing Walker makes me see Teddy's limitations too

I’d be shocked if Teddy gets benched and I’m not one calling for it unless Rhule and Brady think PJ could actually be the future answer. I just hope PJ’s day today makes them realize that Teddy isn’t the answer long term. We’ve already wasted 3 years by bringing our buddy Marty back. I don’t want to keep wasting years trying to build a super team to get around Teddy’s issues or somehow not think that Moore is worth resigning because he’s wasted a bit with Teddy.

And my question is why should it??

Bad team missing weapons and the Defense had its best game of the season...

Not to much here to draw from to get a opinion about the QB position..

Thought about it more on my run after the game, but I distill it down to this as to why PJ is better than Teddy for us moving forward.

PJ's mobility and deep ball change the dynamics of the offense so much that it outweighs the mistakes he made.

Teddy's mistakes are so costly because he doesn't have a great deep ball or mobility, and thus his mistakes are harder to overcome because the offense is less dynamic.

Again, love Teddy the guy and I think he is the perfect backup/mentor type, but as a starter he really lives between not affecting the game to costing us the game, and that doesn't exactly instill confidence in the team or the fanbase.

But, ultimately this whole debate is moot...  Rhule and Brady are gonna stick with Teddy no matter what.  It was their call to give him 24M a year and dump Cam for him...  They're gonna stick with him unless they get a draft pick they think is better, no matter if there's a possibility that PJ is right now.  It's politics...  and it sucks.

There may be a point this season where Rhule may decide to move on from Teddy, but IMHO we're not close to that happening.

I dunno man, the Lions are one of the worst defenses statistically in the league. I liked some of what PJ did, but the turnovers are killer.

I highly doubt that this season, maybe next season depending on Brady's status. If Rhule has half a coaching brain he would know Teddy probably would have put up 40 today easy.

If Bridgewater comes out next week against a better defense in Minnesota and has a bad game, I have little doubt that people will be calling for his benching.

They were, but not against the Lions.  Therefore, I've been wondering, does PJ throw those in a tighter game against a tougher opponent?  Does Brady make those calls?  Idk...  I think the calls were a bit reckless, as were the decisions PJ made on those calls, but I feel like the tone from the beginning of the game on was that we were the superior team today, BY A LOT.

And it's weird, but I feel like even with those turnovers against another team, PJ still gives us a better chance to win with his mobility and deep ball.  The Lions were bad, but Teddy didn't need 2 INTs in the redzone to effectively end a game against Tampa the first time, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, or Kansas City...  he kept us close each game and then blew it at the end with a chance to tie or win.  Some turnovers and decisions are even worse than PJ's were today, difference is, Teddy doesn't have anything else to balance his out.

A first time starter at QB couldn't pick a better team to play against than the Lions.

I'm happy for PJ, but Teddy won't lose his starter status over this even though he is far from perfect.

I have little doubt Rhule will be on the lookout for better QB competition during the off season.

Brady is the big caveat in there. Bridgewater is *his* guy. I mean we got rid of Cam for Bridgewater and its clear thats on Brady. If Brady is around for a few more years I could see Teddy being around as well. If Brady gets an HC job I could see Rhule moving on from Bridgewater pretty quick.

And for everyone downplaying what PJ did because it was the Lions, who I agree are much worse than their record indicates - yes it was his first start, but think back on all of the first starts you've seen over the years as a Panthers fan.  It's a lot of guys, and not many of them turned out very well.  PJ completed at a solid clip, threw a beautiful TD, made some plays with his legs, made two really bad plays which may or may not have been all on him, and he WON.  There are always bad teams, but this is still the NFL.
