Did keeping Cam Newton so long tank Hurney?

We now see how his performance turned out in NE(5 TDs, 10 ints) with a much better team around him. Question is Did Tepper see how his loyalty to broken players and his lack of draft knowledge within college didn't add up? Did he see how if Rhule had not stepped in Cam Newton would have been given a fat contract before the season started? I ultimately think this might have been his ultimate downfall.

NE isn’t a much better team than us. This team would be more successful with a broken Cam than a healthy TB.

We have the foundation to be a great team very quickly. I think if I’m Tepper I’m pissed that we signed TB for 60 million and didn’t do everything we could to draft Justin Herbert .

Now we have 4 wins with fake QB Bridgewater. So we’re just out of the running for Lawrence and we may need to trade up to get one of the top guys.

What the hell are you talking about? NE is a MUCH better team all around than us. Top defense and oline, HoF coach and the best special teams in the nfl...and no this team wouldn’t do better still having the 23 ranked defense and 17 oline just because cam played here. lol holy god alright you guys really cling on

the only single argument would be for cap purposes

This is where the post lost validity for me.

Our offense is better than NE. We have the best WR group in the NFL. NE is rolling with Dameire Byrd. We are losing because the offense can’t deliver with the game on the line. That’s because Teddy sucks and isn’t a clutch player.

If TB can be 0-7 for gaming winning drives, Cam would have had 2-3 of those.

I'm not going to say Cam would have done better here but NE does not have a good team.    This is the worst NE team I've seen in almost 20 years.     The defense is middle of the pack, definitely not a "top" defense and Cam has almost zero weapons as well.    Belichek has admitted this is a down year because of selling out for past Super Bowls.    Cam was always just a stopgap for them.

so when you say NE does not have a better team than the Panthers what you mean are better wide receivers. Agreed.

You said middle of the pack...they average rank 9 out of all those metrics (some are the same).

9 out of 32 is not middle of the pack.

It's not a top defense though lol.     Most rankings are like 11.    I mean yeah, 4 more and it's middle of the pack.     They aren't that great.   They almost lost the Jets, and gave up 27 to them, almost the worst team in the league.    They are pretty average and combined with the lack of talent on offense, yes, this team isn't that great.
