How?

I'm bummed as a UNC fan but I can't blame these kids for protecting their professional futures.

I don’t know but I do know that every year it’s hard to watch bowl games when teams have their best players sit. Is Florida a top ten team when four top pass catchers sit out? Would Clemson be a top 5 team with eight starters not playing? Its just something that has to get looked at.

Only way is to expand the playoff IMO.  I don't love the idea but 8 teams would keep more players from quitting...I mean opting out.

You'd still have all the other bowl games full of opt outs. There absolutely needs to be an expansion. The NCAA runs a legit playoff at every other level of football.

Yeah they are beating the Packers. Lol. How stupid. When they lose, they need the Cardinals to lose.

Once again, how does win and your in become SEVERAL impossible wins? Sounds like one and that’s it. Either them winning, OR ARI losing. Way to double down on a mistake.

I think you will see Trask drop dramatically,

ut there are 2 QBs who are highly underrated and I would not be surprised to see them creep into the top 50 picks.

  • Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati  (A gun with legs--raw)
  • Brock Purdy Iowa State  (Think Drew Breezy)

Yeah, I agree.  All these non playoff bowls are become less and less relevant as it stands now.

Trask should have never been looked at as a first round guy to begin with, honestly.

It sucks, but I don't see a solution. Hell, maybe the opt outs ARE the solution. The NCAA has fought against a legit playoff system to protect their precious bullshit bowls but if guys keep opting out left and right that's basically going to kill their bloated bowl system anyway.

NCAA has to find a way to get the kids to play in bowl games.

Lol...why? There is no benefit to them in an exhibition game that doesn't mean anything. You aren't playing for a title unless you are in the CFP.

Especially after watching King get injured, I wouldn't play either if I had a shot at the NFL.

Yeah, like I’ve said, I don’t have an answer to it. I just know a few years ago I watched Georgia get killed in a Bowl Game but they were missing like 5 offensive and 6 defensive starters. You look at it and it’s like clearly this isn’t the same Georgia team that was ranked #5 or whatever. This is much lesser.

The NCAA is virtually powerless at the Division I level of football. It may not be much longer that the P5 teams break away from NCAA control in football.

Those games are absolutely pointless. Bowl games are just as pointless as they have always been unless they have some title game ramifications. The biggest benefit to the kids is getting a free vacation. Well poo, in COVID you can't even get that. I don't blame these teams for just opting to not even play in the bowl game at all.

Again, I don’t disagree it’s pointless. Maybe they need an incentive to finish the year out with their team. Under this mentality above it’s like once your team loses 2 games in a normal year you should just opt out and get ready for the draft.

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
