Cotton Bowl tonight: "Kyle Trask can silence any remaining skeptics"

This just sucks to watch. This should've been a great game. Instead, UF got hit with a ton of opt outs while OU had their whole squad show up. Trask was terrible and that didn't help, but the outcome was predictable.

I fear the UNC game may look similar. We're playing a top 5 team in TAMU. We're going to be short out #1 WR, both starting RBs, and our starting MLB. TAMU had no players lot out of the bowl game.

Maybe programs need to start asking themselves what these other programs are doing to convince their guys NOT to opt out, because Florida and UNC are going into bowl games badly undermanned against elite football teams.

In fairness, UNC was probably going to get pasted by Texass A&M anyway. It will just be a much more severe pasting now.

Also, UF and UNC are hardly the only teams getting mass opt outs this bowl season. poo, we have had multiple entire TEAMS opt out of the bowl games.

I hope Jones can figure out how to throw by next season. I’ve always like Richardson more.

Sam Howell is probably gonna throw for 6 TDs to pull off the W anyway. Just sayin'.

The key miss is actually Surratt the MLB. He's the glue holding that very inconsistent D together.

Lol. UNC drew an opponent way out of their league, it is what it is. Seems like a fair amount of that is happening this season due to COVID craziness.

3 practices with guys who normally don’t suite up vs a team not having opt outs and looking for a major win will do this.

This is the real issue. When you end up with lopsided bowl games due to one team getting crushed by opt outs and the other team showing up full strength.

The NCAA basically created their own problem. Years ago, qualifying for a bowl actually meant something. Then the NCAA got greedy and created a bowl system so bloated that you have to absolutely suck to not qualify for a bowl. They made bowl games meaningless themselves.

Yeah Wake Forest played in one today!

Unless you can give the players a “cause” to rally around, there’s not much you can do to motivate top programs.

OK really wanted a chance to wash off their playoff performances of the last 5 years. A shot at a top SEC team was it. Then FL players drop out enough masse, and they HAD to win or their credibility would have been gone for a long time. Sux for OK players who wanted a shot at the full team.

And TXAM is trying to prove they should have made the CFP. Which no one will remember except their fans.

Most sure it’s fixable with all the easy money they are making. It will take fans just losing complete interest for anything to even be considered. Don’t travel and quit watching. I watched the 2nd quarter and that’s the first bowl game I’ve turned on this year. Probably last. Have no interest in Auburn’s bowl at all. Which is sad.

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
