I wonder if they could do a "bubble" combine. Basically bring in each position group in a separate location?

I agree--I just do not get how a Sr Bowl is safer than a combine.

Here is where I think the SR bowl helps us--there will be about 20% or more of these players who slip through the cracks and are not drafted.  They will get to know Rhule. Rhule is the kind of coach kids want to play for--so I see us having a lot of undrafted free agents from the SR Bowl (5 or 6 at least). 

Just my subjective, opinionated, theoretical theory.

Well, from what I've read, the Senior Bowl is always a bigger deal, at least from a purely football perspective for those small-school guys.

Having a bunch of recent college coaches on staff is going to help a lot this year.

Even in non-COVID times coaching the Senior Bowl is a big deal. It's the most realistic look at actually coaching these guys you will get.

Honestly, this is kind of dumb. The Combine is actually a pretty easy format to adhere to social distancing standards outside of a few lineman drills that could be cancelled or tweaked.

Individual college pro days will still happen I imagine and be that much more important.

Granted, but the purpose of the combine is to test everybody under the same conditions so it's a level playing field and nobody has a home field advantage.

Whether or not it really works is debated, but that's the idea.
