Vernon Butler is a late round pick who is a starter for a AFCG team, He had 7.5 sacks his last season here and was foolishly not tendered, Hardly a bust for the 30th pick of the draft....  Also Joe Thomas retired 7 months late HARDLY worth a first rounder.

He had 8 career sacks with us. Definitely a bust for us.

Not relevant to the conversation, but just had to point that out.

People keep overlooking the fact that rookie contracts are a MAJOR factor in building a contender.

The main cogs of the two Super Bowl teams don’t exactly look like the Legion of Boom era Seahawks.

Following the news of Watson's trade request, Bill Barnwell of ESPN pieced together 17 trade possibilities for where he could land and he had the Panthers ranked the 2nd most likely to happen with the following proposal.

Texans Receive:

8th Overall Pick

39th Overall Pick

2022 First-Round Pick

2023 First-Round Pick

QB Teddy Bridgewater

Panthers Receive:

QB Deshaun Watson

2022 Third-Round Pick

2023 Fourth-Round Pick

Would you do it?

Situational player from a small school with high athletic upside... Had a breakout fourth season which is close to on par for defensive tackles... Aaron Donalds don't grow on trees. An emotional ejection seems to give him a bad rap... A bust would be Eli Apple the 10th pick of the same draft.

Jonathan Jones:

"It's been said — including here — but to repeat... the Panthers have been/are/will be very interested in Deshaun Watson. It's not just bluster or sports radio imagination. It's real.

Whether he wants to come to CAR, whether HOU would make a deal with CAR, whether CAR would offer enough, whether CAR would offer the best deal is TBD. But the interest from Carolina's side is there and it's high."

Cheap high profile FAs due to the presense of the GOAT and a team who drafted all of their superstars....

Drafted or not, they aren’t on cheap rookie contracts.

hell, Gronk is the 6th highest paid TE this year and doesn’t even catch balls.   Not exactly cheap.

To be fair, Joe Thomas would’ve started in the SB vs Von or Ware. Would’ve helped a little bit.

Tepper was the guy who ordered the GM and head coach to get Cam off the field because he was hurt and couldn't throw the ball. If anything, Cam might actually owe him some thanks for not allowing him to get permanently injured.

Cam was already permanently injured by that point.

Sigh. He would’ve been traded before the deadline in 15. That was the rumor. JT for a first rounder from carolina. Gosh you’re the worst.
