Detailed Mock Draft Scenario - We Can't Get Watson and Don't Want Trey Lance

Now before I begin, I get the upside in trading for DeShaun Watson, or trading up for Wilson/Fields...but I also get the downside in both, which is why I understand if the Panthers just decide to keep their picks and let the draft come to them.  Although it would very much suck if Teddy Bridgewater is our starter heading into the next season, we got to understand it's a very likely possibility if we can't get Watson, and the QBs we want are gone by the time we pick, or we can't trade up.  So, here we go...

In this scenario, Zach Wilson and Justin Fields are gone, if the Panthers don't fall in love with Trey Lance, who would be good with this draft?

Bears traded up and selected Trey Lance.  They gave up their 20th, 2022 1st round, and 2022 2nd round pick.  Only other offer received was by New England, offered their 15th, and 2022 1st round pick.  Decided on taking the Bears offer since I believe they will end up with a worse record than New England next year, Chicago has a tough schedule.

At the 20th pick, Jaylen Waddle was still available.  Jets traded their 23rd and 2022 2nd round pick to move up and select Waddle to pair up with Zach Wilson, who they took with the 2nd overall pick.

At the 23rd pick, got one offer to trade back, Steelers.  No more trading back with this player still available...

There's plenty of talk going around that Micah Parsons might drop, so it is very possible for him to still be available around this pick.  Eventually he will be the starting MLB, but start him at OLB for now, along side Shaq Thompson.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

39th pick, received a couple of offers, but can't pass on this dude...

Late 1st to early 2nd is the range for Liam.  He would be the day 1 starter at left tackle, plug and play at the position.  Was debating on trading up to get him when he was still available at the beginning of the second round.  Dillon Radunz was also still available, so I decided to wait and trade up once one of them went off the board.  They were both still there at the 39th pick.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the 63rd pick, we select this monster to pair up with Derrick Brown in the middle...

Traded up with the Chiefs, right in front of the Bucs, knowing they might possibly be looking at that position.  Terrific at stuffing the run, and able to push the pocket on passing downs.

As for the trade, I traded the 73rd pick and 2022 3rd round pick.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the 113th pick...

If the Panthers can't get their guy in the 1st round, I believe they will select a QB in these rounds (3rd to 5th), and whoever he is, he will see the field at some point in the upcoming season if the only other QB on the roster with starting potential is Teddy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the 152nd pick...

Stephen Weatherly gone, Marquis Haynes becomes a free agent next off-season, the only EDGE players under contract past next off-season are Burns, YGM, Christian Miller.  Toney is a pure pass-rush specialist, could develop more as an every down player if he added weight to help him on running downs.  He easily can replace the role of Marquis Haynes once he's gone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the 185th pick...

Developmental player with starting potential, it's going to take him at least a couple years.   He performed pretty well during the Senior Bowl.  Panthers will still need to address both guard positions through free agency.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the 195th pick...

Chris Evans is projected to go between late 6th round to possibly undrafted but I believe he will actually be selected much higher than that.  I could go on and on about this kid, so just look up into him some more yourself if you haven't heard his name before.  With Mike Davis hitting free agency and likely to not be back, competition is needed behind Christian McCaffrey, and I think Chris Evans can easily become the clear number 2.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And with the Panthers' last pick...

I know the Panthers just extended Slye, but it's only through the 2021 season.  Competition is definitely needed though, doing so by bringing in the best kicker in CFB from last year.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
